Job Description

Position Summary:

Youth Working Group (YWG) Coordinator works in cooperation with individuals and groups in the community to determine the needs of youth, he/ she is responsible for developing programs and strategies to address the identified needs. The YWG coordinator will be responsible for planning and coordinating a variety of youth-oriented activities, programs, events, and initiatives, he/she will work with a wide range of people from youth, adults and stakeholders to provide them with opportunities to explore their interests, develop new skills etc. He/she will be responsible for overall coordinating, arranging meeting of working groups, prepare agenda, invitation and circulation of meeting’s minutes etc.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops and coordinates the implementation, and evaluation plan for youth programs
  • Develop an action plan for the advocacy and supervise the implementation of the plan
  • Preparing agenda points for monthly working group meeting
  • Share the agenda with working group members, get their feedback, inputs and any agent point and finalize the agenda
  • Invite the working group members for monthly meetings
  • Prepare the meeting’s minutes and circulate among working group members
  • Follow of the action points with each stakeholders
  • Review and refine existing training modules for CSO training
  • Conduct training on advocacy for CSO representatives and youth activists in Kabul and Nangarhar.
  • Conduct regular meetings with the CSO alliance and assess their existing capacity related to advocacy on GBV and elimination of forced child and early marriages.
  • Orient CBPM members with SRHR and engage them in the elimination of GBV including forced, early, and child marriages.
  • Closely works in partnership with community organizations.
  • Developing and implementing youth programs, workshops, and other activities designed to help young people develop skills, build character, and get involved in their communities
  • Actively participates in team meetings, and professional development activities.
  • Participates in creating the budget for programs in consultation with the relevant department.
  • Provide technical support and monitor the implementation of small grants projects implementation by CSOs.
  • Receive and review small grants applications from CSOs, and award small grants to the selected CSO.
  • Perform any other tasks as assigned by the supervisor that are within the general scope of the described responsibilities or of project
 

Job Requirements

Academic Background and Knowledge:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, youth development, community development, or equivalent degree in a related field  
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience managing programs and staff
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working with children and youths
  • Capacity to work with people from diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Capacity to work efficiently within a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong ability to work independently
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong computer skills

Skills:

  • Dari or Pashtu is mandatory
  • Strong critical thinking and reasoning skills
  • Good Communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good knowledge of community development especially working with women,
  • Excellent communication, problem solving and presentation skills
  • Flexibility and ability to work under pressure and meeting of deadlines
  • Good reporting skills including report compilation, analysis and presentation
  • Culture sensitive and respect for local norms
  • Confidentiality and privacy
