Medair Afghanistan has been operating since 1996 and currently works in three provinces: Daykundi, Uruzgan, and Kandahar. The country's main office is in Kabul, with multiple field offices. Medair implements WASH, Food Security, Health and Nutrition programming.

Job Description

Overall Purpose

  • To handle the inbound and outbound of supplies, medicines, and nutrition consumables in the Medair UZG store.
  • To organise the store: ensuring safe handling and storwage of medicines, nutrition products, and other supplies, including proper tracking of expiry dates, configuration to use first-to-expire consumables first, and adherence to standard documentation procedures.
  • To assist with maintenance of the base and generators, ensuring that relevant documents are updated and proactively anticipating and solving problems.

 

Project Overview

Medair delivers health, nutrition, water, sanitation, hygiene, and kitchen garden projects in Kandahar, Uruzgan and the Central Highlands region. This position relates to the logistics functions associated with the office in Uruzgan.

MAIN ACTIVITIES

1. Efficient handling of inbound/outbound stock:

  • Facilitate receiving goods into stock and release of goods from stock, including supervising casual labourers when relevant.
  • Review inbound and outbound shipment paperwork to verify accuracy, compliance and Medair’s expectations, and store electronic versions of documents.

 

2. Stewardship of goods kept in the store:

  • Keep stock and bin cards accurate and up to date.
  • Make sure the space is efficiently utilized, without any congestion and goods organised to facilitate implementation of FIFO/FEFO principles.
  • Responsible for both safety and security of the warehouse: fire safety, locking of gates, removal of trip hazards and hazardous materials, protection of goods from water and heat.
  • Ensure accuracy of periodic inventory counts of weekly and monthly physical inventories, uploading monthly stock reports and sharing links with the PM, PC, SLO, AM.
  • Monitor, record, and appropriately flag expiration dates to budget holders.

 

3. Facility maintenance and generator tracking:

  • When required, assist in updating the generators schedule.
  • Update the generator usage sheet and notify the line manager whenever the generators need to be serviced.
  • Issue fuel voucher to the guards when they refuel the generators from the fuel tanks and notify the line manager when the fuel tanks to be refilled. Track fuel usage, including spending on fuel PRs, and facilitate the creation of new PRs when needed.
  • Assist with facility maintenance works, including guiding and supervising technicians working on construction, electrical maintenance, etc.

 

4. Perform any other duties to support logistics functions as assigned by the line manager.

Job Requirements

PERSON REQUIREMENTS:

Educational Background

  • Diploma in BBA
  • Bachelor’s in medicine/Logistics/Pharmacy

 

Relevant Experiences

  • 2 years working in warehousing
  • At least 1 year in pharmacy

 

Language Skills

  • Fluent Pashto oral and written skills
  • Good English oral and written skills
  • Excellent English oral and written skills

 

Computer Skills 

  • Ease with MS Excel and MS Word
  • Online warehousing data base

 

Organizational Capacity

  • Ability to prioritise and multi-task
