HealthNet TPO offers ground-breaking and unconventional solutions that foster self-reliance and promote sustainable health care that is accessible to all.   HealthNet TPO in Afghanistan aims to improve the health status of the people in Afghanistan by supporting the local communities and the Government of Afghanistan in the development of a sustainable health care system.  HealthNet TPO is working in Afghanistan since 1994, implementing integrated health projects managed mainly by national staff and supported technically by expatriate staff from the headquarter office. HealthNet TPO Afghanistan is providing Primary Health Care, Mental Health and psychosocial services, fighting malaria and supporting Mother & Child Health Care in terms of providing training for Community Midwifes and to conduct operation research. Health Net TPO is currently implementing projects in 22 provinces and the major program it implements are Malaria Control program, BPHS/EPHS, C-IMCI , CME, CHNE, public private partnership, nutrition and Mental Health and Psychosocial program through a community system strengthening approach. 

Job Description

    • Prepare nutrition supply requests before stock out of the relevant supply.
    • Regular distribution of RUSF and super cereal to identified children with acute malnutrition (MAM) and AM-PLW
    • Proper Screening/Anthropometric measurement (height, MUAC, weight, age) of all under 5-year-old children and PLW
    • Recording of Anthropometric measurement/Growth monitoring register
    • Conduct appetite test and observation of Appetite test for MAM children
    • Guiding the caregivers and relaying the important messages to them on proper usage of the foods. Repeat in the follow up visit date and time to mothers to ensure they understand.
    • Stock Management of the nutrition commodities
    • Take care of HF equipment’s (Measuring board, Scale, Mid Upper Arm Circumference (MUAC) tapes &wooden plate for Scale)
    • Filling of MAM register books
    • Update stock cards of RUSF and super cereal consumptions;
    • Regular update of files (MAM treatment Cards, referral sheets & follow up cards)
    • Regular submission of food distribution report on daily, Weekly and monthly basis
    • Optimal IYCF and maternal nutrition counselling of all caregivers and nutrition education sessions
    • Planning, organizing and giving Nutrition education to caregivers of children receiving nutrition services
    • Focus group discussion between group of mothers of well-nourished children and malnourished
    • Giving specific counseling to the mothers of SAM and MAM children regarding proper complementary feeding in different stages of life
  • Counseling to pregnant and lactating women for getting additional food.
  • Any other task which will assign by the line manager.
 

Job Requirements

  • Nurse or Midwife graduated from a recognized medical institute or higher education, with successful completion of the Exit Exam conducted by the Ministry of Public Health, Afghanistan.
  • At least 2-3 years working experience in BPHS/EPHS in the nutrition field
  • Fluent in Pashto and Dari languages and working knowledge in English language preferable 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
