Job Description

DACAAR is a non governmental, humanitarian organization that supports sustainable development in Afghanistan through promoting the ability of local communities to decide upon and manage their own development process. Core thematic areas are: Water, Sanitation & Hygiene; Natural Resource Management; Small Scale Enterprise Development; Women’s Empowerment.
Position Description:
Trainings of hygiene & sanitation promoters, supervision of all activities of hygiene & sanitation

 

Promoters (CLTS), activity report and assistance in hiring and administrative work.

Job Requirements

Responsibilities:
  • Attend a full course of CLTS training at the central or/and provincial level.
  • Implement the CLTS using the Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) tools with the villagers of target communities.
  • To visit his/ her related sites for supervision of Hygiene, Sanitation and CLTS activities and to ensure that Hygiene & Sanitation Promoters work according to plan.
  • To supervise/conduct community-led total sanitation activities according to CLTS guidelines.
  • To attend and monitor ongoing hygiene sessions of hygiene promoters by observing hygiene sessions regularly.
  • To train the newly hired Hygiene & Sanitation Promoters until they are performing suitably.
  • Facilitate sessions with communities in realizing the negative hygienic and sanitary behaviors replaced with positive ones.
  • To evaluate the previous sessions of each Hygiene & Sanitation Promoters Couple by visiting households where hygiene education has been taken place.
  • To conduct hygiene sessions in schools for children of target communities.
  • To keep Field Coordinator and Hygiene and Sanitation Team in Main Office informed about their visits and findings (activities progress and problems/difficulties in the site).
  • Establish mutual and good relationship with the Community Development Councils (CDCs) and other influential leaders of the target villages.
  • To provide the Hygiene & Sanitation Promoters with all necessary equipment (flip charts and other CLTS materials.)
  • To enter the data of KAP surveys (baseline & follow up) for their respective projects and send it for Hygiene and Sanitation Team timely.
  • To report performed Hygiene & Sanitation activities to Hygiene & Sanitation Team in main office.
  • To fill out all required Hygiene & Sanitation forms, to check Hygiene & Sanitation Promoters Couples’ related form and to submit them on time.
  • Arrange and facilitate ODF verification, certification and declaration ceremonies at the district and village level.
  • Provide the provincial WASH officer with success stories and photos from the field
  • Conduct pre and post trigging session as a sample.
  • Supervise all pre and post trigging and other CLTS activities/Sessions.
  • Preparing monthly project progress and expenses reports.
  • The holder of this position must strictly follows the organization existing security policies, procedures and daily instructions of the safety personnel.
  • Any other relevant tasks given by the supervisor.

 

Education/ Qualification and Employment Benefits                                                
Education: University degree, MD or equivalent degree is required.
Experience: Minimum Three (3) years of relevant experience in WASH Public Health related projects in NGO is required.
Other qualifications’ an advantage:

 

Supervisory skill, Good communication skills, experience in Hygiene promotion, good community work, adaptation to traditional or local community, honesty and  hard worker,

Languages: The applicants should be able to speak both Pashto and Dari fluently
