Job Description

Job Purpose

The Social Workers will work under the supervision of Case management Officer and will report to him/Her.  The Social Workers will provide daily case management support to children affected by displacement and conflict at the districts’ levels in the targeted Provinces. The Social Workers are responsible for ensuring the cases are managed in accordance with the established process and ensuring that decisions taken are in the best interests of the child. Social Workers are also responsible for mobilizing communities and establishing Community Based Child Protection Committee (CBCPC) in the project sites. S/he will be responsible for capacity building of the committees, ensure their active participation in child protection activities and monitor their engagement with children and community members to create a protective environment for children. These are community-based positions and therefore, priority is given to the local community-based candidates, especially couples who are from the respective districts applying.

The Duties and responsibilities may include but not limited to:

  • Establish Community-Based Child Protection Committees (CBCPC) at the target villages/districts’ levels with membership of men, women, youths and people with disabilities.
  • Conduct training and mentoring to the CBCPCs’ members for enhancement of their capacity in the field of child protection and to identify and refer eligible cases to the project team.
  • Conduct monthly coordination meetings with the established CBCPCs’ members and community dialogues to sensitize children, guardians/parents, and other stakeholders about child rights and responsibilities with a view to identifying child protection cases.
  • Identify, document, and provide case management processes for children at risk of protection concerns.
  • Conduct regular field visits to beneficiaries in the established Child Friendly Spaces (CFS), informal settlements, communities, and households in targeted districts.
  • Social Workers conduct an immediate assessment of the level of risk that the child is exposed to and ensure immediate report that could involve high-risk to line manager/supervisor.  
  • Develop appropriate case plans for children with the determination of the best interest of the child.
  • Share information with parents/caregivers, as appropriate, and support them to implement relevant parts of the case plan.
  • Provide referrals and follow-up for children with external service-providers like government and NGOs/INGOs
  • Sensitize community focal points on Child Protection case identification and safe referrals.
  • Commit to excellent documentation and reporting of the case management files in line with the BID, confidentiality, and other relevant guidelines.
  • Respect and adhere to War Child’s Code of Conduct child safeguarding policy.
  • Any other related task assigned by the line manager.

Job Requirements

  • University degree in Social Science (Psychology, Theology, Law, Education, literature, and sociology).
  • Two years of relevant experience in the child protection sector with NGOs, experience with INGOs will be preferred.
  • At least 1-year of specific case management experience with children particularly in emergency settings
  • At least 1 years’ experience on working with CBCPCs and local communities.
  • Knowledge of Case Management and CPIMS – Trainings attended.
  • Intermediate English language skills.
  • Fluent in national languages, Pashto and Dari.
  • Excellent computer skills.
