About AWEC

AWEC is a non-political, non-profit, woman-headed national organization established in 1991 by a group of educated Afghan women in exile, who rallied together to address the lack of facilities for Afghan refugees in Islamabad and eventually Peshawar, in Pakistan. AWEC has always been involved in advocacy and awareness-raising for women and children’s rights while providing services to those who frequently fall through safety nets. In recent years, one of AWEC’s core activities has been to support women through mobilizing Afghans, from local communities to political elites, towards the goal of reducing and eventually eliminating violence against women.

Our vision in AWEC is “an inclusive and just society with sensitized and responsive public and private sector, where all women and children have access to opportunities to improve their quality of life in order to realize their full potential”.

Job Description

Position Objective

To provide service and support to Paktika’s earthquake-hit regions through humanitarian staff and relief supplies.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide assistance to families affected by the earthquake through the distribution of relief supplies and humanitarian staff considering Islamic ethics, transparency, honesty and accountability. 
  • Planning and coordinating meetings with relevant organizations and authority agencies regarding project implementation. 
  • Participate in meetings with provincial office and relevant authorities as needed.
  • Organize activities and coordinate facilities for this purpose.
  • Timely reporting on the distribution of aid, achievements, and challenges and offering appropriate solutions.
  • Act as a link between AWEC and earthquake hit- regions.
  • Survey affected families, and identify their needs and areas.
  • Work alongside and provide support to staff to regulate visits and activities to earthquake-hit regions.
  • Keep a brief monthly report of activities to the project manager.
  • Attend meetings with any organization when required.
  • Assist the Project manager in the implementation of the project.
  • To perform other duties as requested.

Job Requirements

Qualifications: 

Bachelor Degree in Social science, law, or Sharia is preferred

Experience& Skills:  

  • At least 2years of work experience in a relevant field
  • Familiar with Dari, Pashto, and English, written and spoken
  • Familiar with planning, and prioritizing tasks
  • Honest, active, and well mannered
  • Strong Interpersonal & communication skills
