The Aga Khan Foundation, Afghanistan (AKF (Afg)) is an agency of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), a group of international, private, non-denominational development agencies working to improve living conditions and opportunities for people in some of the poorest parts of the developing world. The Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) is a non-denominational international development agency established in 1967 by His Highness the Aga Khan. Its mission is to develop and promote creative solutions to problems that impede social development, primarily in Asia and East Africa. Created as a private, non-profit foundation under Swiss law, it has branches and independent affiliates in 19 countries.
AKF seeks to provide sustainable solutions to long-term problems of poverty, hunger, illiteracy, and ill health. In Afghanistan, AKF works with rural communities in mountainous, remote or resource poor areas to improve quality of life in the areas of natural resource management, market development, governance, education, and health.
POSITION OBJECTIVE
The Social Mobilizer CSG is a member of the Community Development (CD) team at the district or area level, providing support to the Provincial Coordinator SCG on all CD related matters for Implementation of the Day – to – Day Activities of CD program in the district level and supervision of field team.
He/she is responsible for efficiently coordinating and liaising with community-based institutions (CBIs), involving communities in all pertinent interventions, maintaining effective communication with CBIs and other relevant parties, and taking the initiative to spearhead community development’s indicatives at the village, community, area and district levels.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. To pro-actively lead social mobilization at the community, cluster, and district level and he/she should ensure the meaningful participation of all community members.
2. To maintain a good relationship with community-based institutions, stakeholders, and beneficiaries as well as benefit from and make them understand the programs.
3. To effectively engage community-based institutions and other stakeholders in all CD-related interventions at the community, sub-district, and district levels. And we should make sure that all relevant stakeholders are consulted.
4. The Social Mobilizer is responsible for ensuring smooth and on-time implementation of planned activities according to the yearly plan of operation (YPO) within his/her jurisdiction.
5. The Social Mobilizer is responsible to ensure all the intervention/activities are implemented transparently and the targeted groups are accountable to community members. And he/she is responsible for facilitating organizing accountability events anytime required.
6. Ensure effective coordination with CD team and AKF (Afg) other sectors and provide on time support at the district, area and provincial offices when assigned.
OCCASIONAL SIGNIFICANT DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Liaising / Coordinating with the other AKDN Agencies, NGOs and Governmental Agencies in the District as required.
2. Any tasks are assigned by the immediate supervisor or senior management at the area office level.
JOB SPECIFICATION
1. Holds minimum a university/ bachelor’s degree (preferably in social studies field: Social science, rural development, Law, Business & Administration) from a well-reputed institution.
2. At least 3-5 years Job related Experience as Social Mobilizer and in the equivalent positions with other agencies and familiarity with community driven- development programs.
3. Good Interpersonal Skills; sound management experience, particularly people management.
4. Good Communication and report writing Skills in English and Local Language, Dari or Pashto.
5. Good Computer Skills especially in MS Office applications.
6. Proven ability to work independently or in teams.
7. Ability to perform well in stressful situation.
