NCA Afghanistan is currently working on Climate Resilient WASH, Climate Smart Economic Empowerment, Humanitarian Response, Learning and Social Development, Integrated Community Resilience Action (ICRA) project and Civil Society capacity building.

Job Description

NCA is seeking a competent and highly motivated Social Cohesion Officer with extensive experience in social cohesion and local peace building activities to join our team. This post will support the implementation of social cohesion activities under Integrated Community Resilience Approach (ICRA) project and provide support to other social cohesion projects as well.

The post holder is based in Kabul City and will travel project sites and reports to the Learning & Social Cohesion Coordinator

Job Requirements

 The main tasks and responsibilities for this position:

  • Work with the NCA’s implementing partner to ensure that the overall social cohesion activities including conducting of trainings, dialogue, community action plan are implemented in timely and planned manner.
  • Provide supervision and technical support to implementing partners to ensure that they implement social cohesion activities in effective manner
  • Provide technical guidance and support to Implementing Partners in conducting community-based dialogue sessions
  • Work with the partners to make sure that relevant information including updates, and reports on social cohesion component are provided on regularly and timely basis
  • Prepare success stories reflecting achievements and impact with regard to the implementation of trainings, conducting of dialogue sessions, implementation of community action plan
  • Review and provide feedback to Implementing Partners on monthly and quarterly reports
  • Update database of community grants, dialogue sessions, action plan implementation and other information as required
  • Provide support to the implementation of NCA’s other social cohesion projects
  • Translate some documents including training materials, manuals and other project related documents into English and local languages
  • Preparing training materials on relevant social cohesion topics such as mediation, conflict resolution, social harmony and coexistence
  • Provide the technical support to implementing partners to ensure that ICRA project and its activities are implemented in conflict sensitive way ensurng that Do No Harm principle is upheld during design and implementation stage
  • Support the implementing partners to conduct a quick mapping of religious actors in the targeted districts
  • Work with NCA’s implementing partners to ensure that referral pathways are established, functional and catering to the needs of communities in those targeted districts.

 

The main expectations for this position over the next period in regard to strategic targets and plans:

NCA is looking for an experienced, skilled, and self motivated Social Cohesion Officer to join our team. The post holder, to be successful, should be experienced and have technical knowledge of social cohesion, local peacebuilding and community engagement and be able to work under pressure to meet demanding deadlines. The post holder should also think creatively, and have excellent organization and interpersonal skills.
