NCA Afghanistan is currently working on Climate Resilient WASH, Climate Smart Economic Empowerment, Humanitarian Response, Learning and Social Development, Integrated Community Resilience Action (ICRA) project and Civil Society capacity building.

Job Description

The post-holder will provide technical assistance to project outcome 4 – Strengthening social cohesion, accountability, and social behaviour change. This will include providing technical support to strengthening local development committees, including establishment of local development frameworks.

List the main tasks and responsibilities for this position:

Technical Support:

  • Provide technical assistance in delivering training in organizational management capacity of  local development councils (LDCs).
  • Provide assistance in the development of relevant trainings materials for building the capacity of local development councils on relevant aforementioned themes
  • Provide regular and constantly required updates as and when requested on the progress, status and other issues pertaining to LDC’s capacity building
  • Document success stories, photos, and other evidence based information to be featured through NCA’s internal portals and platforms including Yammer
  • Assist the LDCs in conducting relevant sessions to produce the local development plans
  • Prepare guidelines and templates for local development plans to ensure that LDC members can use those formats and guidelines in preparing the plans
  • Work with the project staff to make sure that relevant information including updates, and reports on social cohesion component are provided on regularly and timely basis
  • Prepare success stories reflecting achievements and impact with regard to the implementation of trainings and local development plans etc.
  • Review and provide feedback on monthly and quarterly reports, including translating some documents i.e., training materials, manuals and other project related documents into English and local languages
  • Preparing training materials on relevant social cohesion topics such as mediation, conflict resolution, social harmony and coexistence
  • Support the implementing partners to conduct a quick mapping of religious actors in the targeted districts

Reporting, Communication and Visibility:

  • In collaboration with the project team, ensure timely and quality reporting of project activities / targets and accomplishments.
  • Actively support and participate in the documentation of project learning and impact case stories and ensure that all lessons learned and best practices are appropriately documented and used to inform project management decision-making processes and project design
  • In collaboration with the NCA Communications team, assist in developing materials to engage the media in social cohesion and social behavior change
  • Assist in regularly monitoring and supervise the projects’ activities, track progress and provide the necessary on-field mentoring support when appropriate to improve group performance and results.
 

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in conflict resolution, Islamic studies, sociology or any other relevant social science.
  • A minimum of three years of previous experience in the areas of social cohesion, community based conflict resolutions, community development, capacity building.
  • Can effectively communicate in English and the local languages.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of word processing software.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Good time management and organisational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
