Community Action for Healing Poverty Organization (CAHPO) is Afghanistan-based NGO (www.chapo.com ) has been established in 2013 by a group of expertise in support of professional advisers and volunteers in response to the needs. was that people affected by different means of violence should be involved in decision-making for positive change in the development process of the country. 

CAHPO is a member of different coordination bodies E.g ACBAR where we share our programs with other NGOs and partners.  CAHPO is an active partner of UN OCHA, AHF, and FAO.

Job Description

GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for the identification, design, implementation, monitoring and reporting on engineering project activities and administrative tasks in the assigned district.  Supervise all district engineering staff in order to effectively implement planned projects.  Manage all administration and security of CAHPO engineering activities in the assigned district.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

 

  • Responsible for the daily implementation of project activities and progress at assigned work sites;
  • Develop action plans for project implementation - including all technical specifications for project implementation. In collaboration with the Program Manager;
  • Assist the Program Manager  in recruiting all required and authorized personnel for project implementation. 
  • Develop and maintain good lines of communication and relationships with local authorities and the local community.
  • Supervise and be responsible for all technical aspects of project implementation, ensure the are completed in a timely, efficient and accurate manner according to standard engineering methods.
  • Regularly update project implementation plans to the program manager with associated time lines.
  • Ensure a safe working environment for all people involved in project implementation.
  • Administrative
  • Is responsible for maintaining detailed work plans and written records of engineering work undertaken in the project. 
  • Is responsible for a high degree of awareness regarding the security situation in the project area.  Based upon this knowledge take adequate measures to ensure the safety of any and all MC staff and equipment in the district. 
  • Is responsible for daily radio contact with all engineering project staff.
  • Follow all CAHPO protocols and regulations according to guidance provided by the direct supervisor.
  • Conduct himself/herself both professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring credit to CAHPO and to not jeopardize its humanitarian mission.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Supervise project staff such as foremen on sites to ensure the responsible completion of their duties according to their position descriptions.
  • Assist HR/Admin Manager in getting the field staff timesheets done properly by the end of the month.
  • Ensure proper supervision of non-CAHPO staff (skilled and unskilled labor) at project site.
  • Complete routine progress reports and submit reports as required by supervisor; 
  • Provide weekly progress reports on implementation to supervisor;
  • Assist CAHPO  management with any requests for information or data regarding program expansion or development.

 

Job Requirements

University degree in engineering. Minimum two years of work experience in engineering project implementation and supervision. Spoken and written English proficiency is essential. Proficiency in a variety of local languages preferred. Physically able to spend long periods of time in the field.
