About Caritas Germany Afghanistan:

Caritas Germany is a non-profit organization supporting humanitarian aid projects and the development of social services in Afghanistan. We are officially registered in Afghanistan since 2002. Caritas Germany does not implement projects but works exclusively through partners.

 

Job Description

Key duties & responsibilities:

  • Advises, supports and monitors partners regarding all financial aspects of project work.
  • Tracks expenditures in a project and ensures, that payments are consistent with the Afghan laws and regulations.
  • Develop project budget in cooperation with program team.
  • Verifies partner´s financial reporting and prepares consolidated reports.
  • Ensures reporting on COA costs as part of project budgets.
  • Ensures that partner submit proper forecasting sheets and timely cash transfers requests to ensure adequate supply of funds.
  • Prepares the monthly budget vs actual finance overviews in close collaboration with the Program Coordinator.
  • Ensures that the procurement procedures are respected by the partners and monitor the inventory of a project.
  • Makes sure that all supporting and necessary project documents are correct, available, compliant with COA as well as donor requirements and up to date.
  • Ensures correct and complete filing of all accounting documents.
  • Communicates timely about delays, challenges or deviations from the project budget.
  • Cooperates and assists in audits and communicates audit findings and recommendations to Caritas Germany Head Office and to respective partner organizations and make sure that the partners implement accordingly.
  • Conducts field visits.
  • Any other finance related tasks as requested by supervisors.
  • Reprots to Operations Manager & Program Coordinator

  • The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day guidance and monitoring of the Caritas Germany´s implementing partners in regard of their project finances.

Job Requirements

  • University degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience in the field.
  • Relevant computer skills (MS Office package. Experience with WinPACCS is an advantage).
  • Good analytical and reporting skills.
  • Honest and accountable.
  • Knowledge of relevant donor regulations and guidelines, like AHF, ECHO, BMZ, is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in English and Dari, both written and spoken; Pashto is an added value.
  • Must be able to travel to remote locations independently.
