Job Description

Job Purpose

The incumbent for this position is responsible to provide safe environment for all WCUK staff based in Herat (IQ) He is responsible to ensure the IQ reception hall /guest house compound is safe and all assets are safe and secure.

The Duties and responsibilities may include but not limited to:

  • Responsible in screening and checking identification cards of all guest coming to War Child UK-A compound.
  • Known visitors to the guards and does not have ID they may be admitted after clearance with Security Officer.
  • For unannounced visitors it has to be check first with the staff who they wish to visit before they will be permitted entry.
  • Responsible in gate keeping, opening and closing the gate when War Child vehicles comes in and out of the compound
  • Patrol the surrounding/vicinity of the compound and inform Security Officer of any suspicious car or individuals if any
  • Help maintain cleanliness in War Child UK compound (i.e watering and weeding the garden and cleaning the garage and guard house)
  • During winter, light wooden heaters at the guesthouse and at the office
  • Turn on generator when there is no power and ensure that it is turn off when power is back
  • Make sure every morning the handover sheet is signed and any missing reported to Security Officer on time.
  • contribute to creating a culture committed to the safeguarding of children and adults and compliant with WCUK’s Child Safeguarding and Adults at Risk Policies.

Job Requirements

Person Specification

War Child in Afghanistan operates in a dynamic environment with a team of highly motivated and dedicated staff. The right candidate will share these qualities and bring effective leadership to a diverse team. The successful candidate will be creative problem solver and foster a solution-based approach to management.

Experience and mandatory criteria:

  • Minimum 2 to 3 years work experience in security perspective with I/NGOs.
  • Diploma is highly preferable.
  • Ability to work during days and nights shifts
  • Ability to identify and report any suspicions
  • Able to work as a team with a good behavior
  • Reliable, trustworthy, and committed to team’s success
  • Commitment and to understand of War Child UK values.
  • Having Positive and encouraging personality
  • Ability in speaking two national language Dari and Pashtu (Basic English Language Skills is preferred)
