The USAID funded Urban Health Initiative (UHI) Program’s goal is to improve health outcomes of people living in urban areas, particularly focusing on the health of women and children and other vulnerable populations. Interventions aim to increase demand, access and quality of health services. Lead by Jhpiego and implemented by a dynamic consortium of organizations, UHI is implemented in five cities in Afghanistan – Kabul, Herat, Mazar-e-Sharif, Jalalabad and Kandahar.
Specific Responsibilities:
Search all local female staff and visitors including bags in accordance with local customs and in a professional, consistent, unbiased, friendly, and conscientious manner.
Accompany female visitors to the reception or to the designated waiting area Assign visitor’s cards to all non-staff visitors and report any loss immediately Maintaining registration of visitors at the UHI office premise.
Prevent visitors from straying into prohibited areas within the premises.
Watch for irregular or unusual conditions that may create security concerns or safety hazards Protecting Project’s property and staff by maintaining a safe and secure environment.
Observe for signs of crime or disorder and report disturbances Should report in detail to the RMO in case of any suspicious incidents.
Watch alarm systems or video cameras and operate detecting/emergency equipment.
Check facilities within the premises to make sure that they are secure, as well as make sure that windows, doors, and gates are properly locked after work hours.
Assist the guard force with any female security-related issues Coordinate with Security Manager on any security issues that arise Perform any other duties/tasks assigned by the supervisor
Holding a high school certificate is preferred
At least two years of proven work experience as a searcher/security guard or relevant position Familiarity with local languages (Dari & Pashto) and understanding of the English language is an asset Ability to operate detecting systems and emergency equipment
Excellent knowledge of public safety and security procedures/protocols
