Since 1993, Women for Women International (WfWI) has helped nearly 447,000 marginalized women in countries affected by war and conflict. We directly work with women in eight countries (including Afghanistan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Iraq, Kosovo, Nigeria, Rwanda and South Sudan.), offering support, tools, and access to life-changing skills to move from crisis and poverty to stability and economic self-sufficiency.

 

Job Description

Safety and Security Management Implementation and Execution:

  • Assist Safety & Security Manager for ensuring the implementation of security guidelines, policies of WFWI by all staff members, in strict accordance with WFWI security management plan, CIMP etc.
  • Closely monitor the security and political of Afghanisnt and in particulerly Kabul  and report to Safety & Security manager if needed;
  • Assist Safety and Security Manager in providing security trainings, emrgency drills etc
  • Ensure the safety and security of the WFWI's assets, staff, and beneficiaries
  • In the absence of Safety & Security Manager, attend INSO meetings or any other security related meetings and keep the CD informed if there is anything to be aware of
  • Closely monitor the tracking the device and keep track of the field missions and stay in contact with mission until they reach the destination
  • Responsible for availability of safety measures & equipment (first aid kits, fire extinguishers, evacuation alarms, emergency gates, security signs, safe room (hibernation kits) etc.
  • Ensure all the vehicles are properly equipped (with first aid, fire extinguisher etc.), maintained, and driven per WFWI Safe Driver Manual.
  • Support Safety & Security Manager in investigating the lose/damages, car accident and other related issues when needed
  • Regularly patrol and inspect guards in office compound. Perform spot-check during the night to ensure night-duty guards perform their duties- and remain awake
  • Assist in ensuring access control and visitors procedures are strictly followed
  • Assist the Safety and Security Manager in drafting/preparing timetables of the guards
  • Assist the guards while they take annual leave, emergency leave, sick leave etc.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Safety and Security manager.

Job Requirements

  • Diploma (usually following or in addition to a secondary school certificate.
  • At least two (2) years of relevant work experience, preferably in the NGO sector
  • Advanced level of understanding of various communications technologies, including VHF and HF radio systems, satellite phones, cell phones, etc.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work under high pressure
  • Proven ability to create networks & build relationship with local authorities, community, stakeholders etc.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Knowledge of the political, economic, and social context of East region and Afghanistan in general.
  • Language fluency in English required (reading, writing, and speaking), and local languages
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook)
  • Strong commitment to WFWI’s mission and values
  • Ability to work outside of working hours as needed
  • Ability to travel inside of Afghanistan and internationally as required.
