The USAID funded Urban Health Initiative (UHI) Program’s goal is to improve health outcomes of people living in urban areas, particularly focusing on the health of women and children and other vulnerable populations. Interventions aim to increase demand, access and quality of health services. Lead by Jhpiego and implemented by a dynamic consortium of organizations, UHI is implemented in five cities in Afghanistan – Kabul, Herat, Mazar-e-Sharif, Jalalabad and Kandahar.
Position Overview
The RMNCAH Associated Manager will support UHI’s project RMNCAH interventions to build capacity and strengthen the performance of teams working in the RMNCAH areas and service providers across the cities. The RMNCAH Associate Manager will Focus on the mentorship approach to improve the quality of service delivery and maintain initiations. Provide support to the MNH team to provide technical excellence and oversight for FP, MNH, SS- Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health, and service delivery initiatives in the UHI targeted cities.

Main responsibilities:
Manage the MNCH team
Support the Technical Advisors to ensure timely and continuous support is provided to the technical components.
Technical support to the city teams in the MNCH including the initiatives
Contribute to the implementation/ modification and development of mentorship approaches in the MNCAH areas to improve the quality of care and strengthen the delivery of health services in public and private sectors across the UHI five target cities.
Participate in the internal meetings and share challenges and lessons learned in implementing activities in areas of technical expertise
Coordinate the development of evidence-based clinical training materials and standards, supervisory systems, and post-training/ learning follow-up mechanism within the team
Provide technical input during the development of work plans and/or long-term strategy developments
Contributes to capacity building of key stakeholders, professional associations, and key partners and stakeholders
Contribute/ support and facilitate meetings, trainings, workshops, and other events to the MNH team
Contribute to capacity building/ knowledge management team to ensure a documentation platform for all clinical-related activities/ initiatives
Support/contribute to the selection, criteria development, and implementation of new initiatives and their expansion
Support the assessment/ gap analysis and development process that will enable functioning centers of excellence/ initiatives over the life of the project
Support capacity-building interventions including “hub and spoke” e-mentorship and in-person mentorship program activities
Comply with UHI operational, risk management, and other guidelines and policies.
Lay the groundwork for continuous medical education (CME) in collaboration with professional
associations
Required Qualifications and Experience:
Graduate degree or postgraduate clinical degree (OB/GYN- Female) with experience providing clinical care
5-7 years of work experience in the health sector and health services especially leading training and capacity development of service providers
Experience working with INGOs on different approaches to clinical skills, especially the Mentorship program
Previous experience with leading or coordinating a multidisciplinary team to achieve measurable results
Master of Public Health would be an advantage
Abilities and Skills:
Ability to coach, mentor, and develop technical capacity in national programs and technical staff in priority areas
Ability to work successfully in teams, across a diverse team in a complex environment with multiple tasks, short deadlines, and intense pressure to perform
Strong skills in facilitation, team building and coordination
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including strong writing, analytical, and communication skills in Dari, Pashtu, and English
Experience working with Microsoft Office software applications (Excel, Word, Outlook Explorer, PowerPoint) is advantageous
Ability to coordinate and represent the project and organization nationally
