Job Description

Job Summary: 

The PSS Psychosocial Counsellor will be responsible for overall PSS related activities provision including but not limited to providing PSS counselling, case finding, providing awareness raising session for community resilience, case referring and reporting of the related activities. The PSS Counsellor will be an important part of health team to ensure the provision of health-related services with focus on women and girls mental health related issues.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Providing psychosocial services considering clients’ culture and age.
  • Providing of awareness raising regarding PSS related activities, PSS support and protection related issues.
  • Ensuring the integration of mental/ PSS services in AFGA Eartquake response services through full engagement participating in health education activities in community level.
  • Providing PSS counselling with individuals and groups as needed.
  • As an important member of  team contributing to overall project related activities plan preparation, reporting and documentation of the activities.
  •  PSS counsellor will be mental health and PSS focal person for all the related meetings and capacity building activities on health facility and provincial level.
  • Facilitating community members’ engagement in mental health and protection related meetings.
  • Support other health staff for their working particularly the midwife on her daily working.
  • Proper record keeping of services with extremely considering the clients related information confidentiality.
  • Any other task assigned by the team leader.

Job Requirements

  • Graduated from registered university as psychology or sociology field of study.
  • Having skills of psychosocial support principles.
  • 2 years proven experience working as PSS counsellor with health sector in national or international NGOs.
  • Basic knowledge of protection principles and services particularly women and child.
  • Ability to make plans and preparing reports.
  • Able to speak Pushto and Dari.
