Job Description

Job Purpose

The purpose of this position is to provide daily psychosocial support to the targeted beneficiaries in the field, providing response and information and managing the cases identified and or referred to. And ensure reach out of affected children in the targeted areas in Herat by responding to calls/contacts and emergencies received.

The Duties and responsibilities may include but not limited to:

  • Developing monthly and weekly PSS & PFA plan responding the needs of targeted beneficiaries in the field and call center;
  • Conducting regular field visits to the targeted are for the provision of PSS and PFA sessions;
  • Actively participate in the identification process of the targeted beneficiaries and have rapid need assessment for the provision of services;
  • Communicate effectively with the children and their caregivers for providing the services and distributing the recreational kits;
  • Support the SWC psycho-social technical officer in development of the PSS and PFA packages
  • Answer to all call coming and Inform child helpline callers about the helpline services and gather relevant information needed to be able to assess their needs and enter the data collected in the child helpline database;
  • Provide telephonic PSS and counselling if needed refer to the mobile team to arrange face to face counselling;
  • Make sure the identified cases are managed and supported with proper documentation using the inter-agency case management standards;
  • Refer the case that requires specialized mental health to the actors and maintain follow up and record the progress;
  • In consultation with MEAL department and the supervisor, ensure proper case management and records of the cases according to the standards.
  • Produce narrative and data report every month, share it with line manager.
  • Contribute to creating a culture committed to the safeguarding of children and adults and compliant to War Child’s Child Safeguarding and Adults at Risk Policies.
  • Other duties assigned by the line manager.

Job Requirements

Person Specification

War Child in Afghanistan operates in a dynamic environment with a team of highly motivated and dedicated staff. The right candidate will share these qualities and bring effective leadership to a diverse team. The successful candidate will be creative problem solver and foster a solution-based approach to management.

Experience and mandatory criteria:

  • Have bachelor degree in social science preferably in psychosocial field.
  • 2-3 years’ relevant experience in PSS preverbally with INGOs.
  • Have 1-2 child protection experience
  • Good Computer Skill
  • Good English Language Skills
  • Ability to explain and teach the topics in a simple and systematic way
  • Excellent Communication, coordination, Negotiation skills
  • Good report writing and presentation skills
