Job Description

General Purpose of the job: The Intervention aims to address pressing protection concerns of returnee and IDP children (children on the move) and also vulnerable children from host communities, and aligns with the strategic priorities of the Afghan Unity Government and Humanitarian agencies, mainly focus on the child protection issues by strengthening and establishment community based protection mechanism and structures, promote Volunteerism and support. One of the key purposes is to ensure child protection, safe and proper migration and reintegration, build the capacities and institutionalize the volunteerisms among communities to contribute to the child protection and safe and proper reintegration of children on the move in to the communities. The very specific outputs are including boys and girls affected by humanitarian crises are provided with psychosocial support and structured play through child-friendly spaces to acquire the basic social and communication skills they need, children affected by humanitarian crises benefit from age and gender-sensitive case management services, reintegrate unaccompanied/ separated children to their families/communities, protect and promote children’s rights in humanitarian crises in targeted communities through communities’ engagement, establishment of safe spaces and providing vocational trainings ad strengthen the existing child protection response mechanism to ensure safe re-integration and protection of the children on the move in Eastern Region Province of Afghanistan. Specific duties and responsibilities: Mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) consultancy focusing on parental depression and positive parenting practices for children at risk for the children on the move. The objective of the consultancy is to develop a training package and consultancy services to utilize during the intervention for caregivers. The MHPSS Consultant will responsible for designing the sessions for the group-based intervention that will form part of an integrated child protection and child rights intervention that aims to improve developmental, behavioral and safety outcomes of children at-risk. The training package and facilitator’s guide is aimed at child protection case workers working in case management facilities. The child protection team will have child protection officers, social workers and case worker collaborating with case management to address the short and long-term implications on a child’s rights. This approach moves away from more traditional medical treatment models and focuses on the overall safety and development of the child through improved parental practices, decreased perinatal stress, and individual interventions for high risk protection cases. Design a group-based psychosocial support program for caregivers of children, incorporating psychosocial stimulation and parenting techniques to improve mental health outcomes and optimal caregiving behaviors developing MHPSS curriculum and evidence-based interventions Develop a concise, structured, easy-to-use facilitator’s manual for the sessions with caregivers delivered by child protection caseworkers Create a training package for the technical Child Protection team to build the capacity of local caseworkers that will be delivering the group-based psychosocial support program (powerpoint presentation with detailed facilitators notes) Develop baseline/endline impact measurement indicators and corresponding data collection tools

Job Requirements

Qualification Proven experience with Education: Degree in Law, International Law, Political Sciences or related field Experience in Relevant Field Fluency of English Language and Local or Official Languages Office Full Package (Word, Excel, Power point ETC) Experience At least three years’ Experience in Organizing of Training. At least three years’ experience in relevant field (protection, child protection, education, community engagement etc) At least two years’ experience in Case Management and Case Referral. Language Skills Fluency in spoken and written English and knowledge of local languages is essential. Other requirements Positive, Honest, and Reliable to be counted on faire Respect others and respect chain of command Good Communicator and presenter Flexible, confident and able to handle multi-tasks Adaptable and able to understands the culture Committed to code of conduct, policies and procedures
