ASCHIANA is a non-governmental and nonprofit philanthropic organization who work from 1996 support street working and war affected children in Afghanistan work with vulnerable and disadvantaged, and help them improve their quality of life for the purpose of breaking the cycle of poverty by providing them with the means to better their own future. To improve the social, economic, physical, cultural and mental situation of vulnerable groups of children, and to focus on basic education as a means to do that. ASCHIANA support the children and their families morally and emotionally throughout, teach them educational, protection, nutrition and other life skills.

Job Description

Provide referral services through CFS social workers to outside therapists, clinics, and treatment facilities. The CFS- psychologist will work closely with the CFS social worker, facilitator and CFS- Officer to monitor and record  related project activities and report any issues with the centers/children. A key to succeeding in this role is the ability to stay calm and empathize with clients when they are upset. You should also be aware of others’ reactions and understand why they react as they do. She/he must strictly adhere to ASCHIANA’s Child Protection Policy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct psychological First Aid to CFS children as needed
  • Provide referral services through CFS social workers to outside therapists, clinics, and treatment facilities
  • Consult with children and parents, making recommendations for developmentally appropriate services and strategies to assist in improving CFS children mental health conditions
  • Act as a liaison with community agencies that provide psychosocial services to children in the targeted area
  • Provide behavior consultation for CFS children by designing and implementing measurable behavior interventions
  • Provide assessment and recommendations for appropriate treatments and PFA for CFS children
  • Consult, diagnose and treat various mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders of children in the CFSs
  • Provide psychological services as related to the CFS guidelines
  • Identify opportunities for efficiencies in the work process and innovative approaches to completing the scope of work
  • Respect all guidelines and documentation within the project; keep data records for each individual and group session.
  • Ensure a daily quantitative and qualitative reporting through the tools (assessment form, follow up form, monitoring form etc) and system in place.
  • Actively participate to the entire project meeting, technical follow-up, internal and external trainings related to your position according to your line manager instructions.
  • Contribute to the organization of the weekly plan within the multidisciplinary team, with the support of the Project Officer.
  • Participate in the different activities that are common to all team members (identification of needs of beneficiaries, internal and/or external evaluation etc.)
  • Respect ASCHIANA child protection and PSEA policy and protection of beneficiaries from sexual exploitation and abuse and report to your line manager any non-respect of ASCHIANA’s policies amongst the teams or partners.

Child safeguarding (CSG)

  • Conduct activities in accordance with the rules of the Child Safeguarding Policy, which includes reporting suspicions of child abuse,
  •  Ensure that all activities seen through a child safeguarding lens;
  •  Be vigilant about observing possible child abuse/harm,
  •  Ensure all partners and beneficiaries of Save the Children are aware of the child safeguarding policy and promote the message of child safeguarding to children, beneficiary families, and community members in general,
 

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sociology or Psychology or other related field.
  • 3 years’ experience working the same task
  • Strong Communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good Computer Skill
  • Good knowledge of fluently in Dari/Pashto and English languages
  • Comfortable with working in mixed environment (male-female)
  • Respectful behavior with staff and children
  • The candidate who is applying from other provinces she/he should be able to make arrangement for themselves regarding the accommodation meal and any emergency.
