About (WASSA):

The Women’s Activities and Social Services Association (WASSA) was established in 2002 as Afghanistan's first women’s independent organization. WASSA aims to promote the women’s equal participation in socio-economic sectors and support the current humanitarian crisis by providing emergency humanitarian and livelihood assistance to vulnerable households, especially women.

To support WASSA’s vision and mission, some potential candidates are needed to be recruited for a project funded by UN Women to strengthen women’s livelihoods through increased access to skills and resources. The project will be implemented in three districts of Herat Province for a period of 15 months.

Job Description

Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for the overall management of the provincial office and representing the child protection and other components of the project.
  2. Undertake staff and financial management of the project at the provincial level.
  3. Develop a detailed provincial-level implementation work plan and ensure the timely completion of defined targets.
  4. Ensure that operation continues smoothly and that desired milestones are met per the work plans.
  5. Work closely with the regional project manager, program department, and stakeholders to achieve the project objectives.
  6. Develop, maintain, and strengthen contacts with Government Counterparts, NGOs, and UN agencies working in the region.
  7. Strengthen coordination between various organizations in the social cohesion field.
  8. Prepare daily, weekly, and other reports, as required.
  9. Oversee and supervise the work of the provincial support staff.
  10. Establish good linkages with the communities, local Shura (councils), and local authorities.
  11. Organizing coordination meetings with stakeholders in the respective province
  12. Assisting in the implementation of project activities in the province
  13. Organizing and conducting training for staff capacity building
  14. Ensuring procurement admin and finance activities are according to budget.
  15. Ensure adequate program documentation and progress by capturing lessons learned and good practices.
  16. Represent the organization in relevant meetings and national forums
  17. Adhere to the organization's code of conduct in professional and personal life and report breaches of the code to the appropriate persons
  18. Ensure the effective and efficient use of all organization resources in order to keep costs low and ensure safety in the workplace
  19. Lead manage and motivate a team ensuring that they have clear objectives and receive meaningful feedback on their performance.
  20. Perform any other responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time by the line manager.
 

Job Requirements

  1. At least a University degree in management, public administration, economy, and other related fields and Master's degree is a plus.
  2. At least 4 years of experience in managing and supervising humanitarian projects.
  3. Ability to speak in local languages (Dari and Pushto) and English.
  4. The capability of traveling to the project sites.
  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  6. Ability to work effectively in challenging and resource-constrained environments.
  7. Proficiency in relevant software and data management tools.
  8. Fluency in English (both written and spoken); knowledge of local languages is an advantage
