Job Description

ABOUT THE JOB

Under the management of the protection Coordinator, the Protection Officer (information management) supports the protection team in Management of protection data for DRC protection sector. The Protection Officer (Information Management) acts as the focal point for the protection sector for information management and s/he is responsible for keeping all beneficiary databases up to date and providing accurate data to the MEAL team regarding targets reached for protection activities. He/she will support with the development of information management systems and data management tools for protection activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the protection team in keeping all protection databases and tracking sheets up to date -  referral/CM and legal databases/trackers, including collected data from teams in different field office in the country.
  • Format and clear data collected and entered, highlight inconsistencies or errors in data collection
  • Under the lead of the Protection coordinator create and maintain excel databases and tracking sheets for different types of activities per project, including beneficiary and target trackers.
  • Provide easy to read information with proper formatting, consolidation of data and maintain good information flows among teams on a weekly and monthly basis
  • Develop and maintain a monthly cumulative database for tracking beneficiaries reached under the different interventions
  • Keeping IPTT indictors tracker up to date for all the locations and share timely and accurate figures with the MEAL team when requested for donor reporting.
  • Compile and enter beneficiary and project information into databases from regular collected (handwritten) registration   forms, when needed.
  • Conduct monthly activity info reporting online for all the project locations.
  • Compile finding to provide well written and structured report, including PIM reports
  • Building the capacity of teams in the field on information management and keeping all databases up to date with accurate information
  • Support protection sector on reporting to report hub monthly.
  • Contribute on analysing of protection monitoring data monthly or quarterly.
  • Collaborate with the MEAL team to support on satisfaction surveys for protection beneficiaries and contribute on data analysis
  • Coordination with the protection team leaders in area office on collecting quality data.
  • Any other duties that may be assigned by line manager

Job Requirements

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this role you must have:

Experience and technical competencies: 

  • Minimum of 2-3 years proven experience working on protection related issues in humanitarian environments.
  • Strong understanding of humanitarian, displacement, and protection issues.
  • Experience in developing, managing information, and using databases in humanitarian settings.
  • Experience compiling information for external dissemination.
  • Good understanding of monitoring and evaluation processes, including conducting assessments and surveys.
  • Strong understanding of humanitarian, displacement, and protection issues.
  • Strong knowledge of Excel and preferably MS Access or other databases, SharePoint online, and other tools.
  • Strong knowledge of data collection, analysis and visualization tools and techniques, such as Kobo, PivotTables, and other tools.

Education/qualifications:

  • University degree, law and/or other social sciences faculties 
  • Familiarity with Afghan laws
  • Ability to clearly express one’s thoughts, to analyze and present information clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to set priorities and show initiative, to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills

Languages:

Good knowledge of English and fluency in Dari
