Job Description

The Protection Activity Manager will provide support to the implementation and coordination of the overall protection component of the project. S/he will guarantee the proper and timely implementation of INTERSOS activities within the area of intervention in the protection component. S/he coordinates closely with the Protection Deputy Coordinator, Protection Coordinator and all the other sectorial coordinators, so to make sure appropriate internal referrals are activated and coordination among the teams ensured.
Duties and Responsibilities:
➢ Under the supervision of the Project Manager, s/he will be responsible of the timely and correct implementation of the protection component of INTERSOS program in Kandahar.
➢ Coordinate the field teams, with special attention to logistic and security issues in the field;
Make sure the field teams are well equipped to implement activities in the field, i.e. availability of vehicles, stationary etc.
➢ Make sure field teams set targets and those are constantly monitored and achieved;
➢ Monitor quality of activities at field sites to assess proper delivery of activities, including case management and awareness sessions with community members;
➢ Document and monitor on-going challenges related to HR and provide structured feedback to management;
➢ Support the Project Manager on recruitment of protection staff and on performance evaluation of supervised staff;
➢ Support the Project Manager on filling the monthly HR matrix (i.e., absences, leaves, permits) of supervised staff.
Capacity building and reporting:
➢ Make sure capacity building opportunities for field teams are identified and make sure staff members are nominated to attend those;
➢ Make sure capacity development plans are developed for staff members and performance review are conducted regularly;
➢ Pursue timely reporting to management, highlighting potential challenges and ways of addressing them.
Coordination:
➢ Maintain close coordination with other protection staff members, especially Protection Referent.

Materialize internal referrals to other departments, boosting the assistance that beneficiaries can receive from the organization;
➢ Support mapping of services and development of effective referral pathways;
➢ Disseminate mapping of services and keep it up to date;
➢ Attending all the relevant fora in Kandahar and make sure the organization is well represented, with up to date information.
➢ Abide by the INTERSOS Child Protection, PSEA, Data Protection Policies and Cash, Case Management SOPs.

Job Requirements

Minimum 5 years’ experience in protection programming.
➢ University Degree in Psychology, Social sciences or equivalent.
➢ Knowledge of global protection standards and relevant bodies of international law, very good understanding of protection and refugee rights.
➢ Experience in developing and delivering high quality protection-related training and tools to support practical implementation of protection standards.
➢ Demonstrated ability to work within humanitarian context.
➢ Proficiency in English, Pashto and Dari languages is highly essential.
➢ Essential computer literacy (word, excel and internet).
➢ Commitment to INTERSOS principles.
➢ Comply with all relevant INTERSOS policies and procedures.
➢ Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
➢ Computer literacy (Word, Excel).
➢ Excellent analytical and Reporting skills.
➢ A high degree of flexibility and ability to work in an insecure environment.
➢ High confidentiality, respect and non-discrimination attitude.
➢ Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
➢ Understanding of humanitarian operations principles, standards and best practices.
➢ Experience in training and capacity building / development of staff is desirable.
➢ Ability and willingness to travel and stay overnight at service delivery point.
