Afghan Family Guidance Association (AFGA) is an Afghan non-governmental, not-for-profit and non-political organization established in 1968. AFGA has been working in the field of Reproductive health and Rights since its inception and has recently become an associate member of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF).

AFGA activities were suspended due to war and conflict in the country for ten years (1992-2002) and resumed its activities in 2002 with financial support from International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF).

IPPF is an alliance of 151 family planning associations known as Member Associations which has projects in over 180 countries. IPPF continues to be the largest civil society provider of reproductive health information and services in the world.

Job Description

Job Summary:

AFGA seeks project provincial technical supervisor with the previous background of working for health-related projects as technical & supervisory roles. The health project provincial technical supervisor will be working under supervision of Project Provincial Supervisor and will be responsible for overall technical supervision and control of the MHT and other health projects smooth implementation on provincial level.

Specific Responsibilities:

• The provincial technical Supervisor will provide technical support to implement the relevant project activities in all target areas/communities.

• The provincial technical supervisor will be responsible for supervising the project activities including medicine supply, RMNCAH, and mental health activities at the provincial level.

• The provincial technical supervisor will lead the health services field teams, provide technical oversight in related areas, and ensure that standard and sustainable practices are adapted to ensure RMNCAH and other integrated services to the beneficiaries.

• The technical provincial supervisor will oversee the integration of RMNCAH and psychosocial support in primary health care along with other health-related issues based on coverage area (COVID-19, immunization, etc.).

• The project technical provincial supervisor shall conduct regular field visits to ensure the accurate implementation of the project on the community level.

• The project provincial technical supervisor will track the project's target achievement for static/ mobile health services provision centers, address all the gaps, and prepare action plans for project activities considering MoPH and project donor’s standard guidelines.

• The project provincial technical supervisor will assess the technical gaps/ needs of the project staff and will develop on-the-job and outsourced training plans for project staff on the provincial level.

• The project provincial supervisor will collect, verify, and compile health facility technical reports and will be responsible for the timely submission of the report to the related person.

• The project provincial technical supervisor will be responsible for continues follow up of the project indicators and setting target of the project accordingly.

• The project provincial technical supervisor will present AFGA in all technical meetings on provincial level.

• Any other assignment by the provincial supervisor.

Job Requirements

• Graduated from a recognized medical university with an MD level, midwifery or Bachelor of Public Health.

• 5 years of Proven experience working with health-related projects as a technical person particularly the experience of working for BPHS and RMNCAH projects.

• Strong communication and supervision skills and knowledge.

• Ability to conflict management and problem-solving on the team level.

• Ability of working in MS office package for developing different documents (plan, reports, graphs).

• Strong English ability in writing.

• Being able to travel to project sites on the community level.

• Strong ability in project stockholders’ analysis.

• Ability to conduct supervision of the project activities.

• Working for humanitarian assistance projects is a plus point and priority will be given to local candidates.
