The Norwegian Afghanistan Committee (NAC) has a zero tolerance of sexual exploitation, abuse, and harassment (SEAH) both within the organization and of beneficiaries. Prevention of and protection from sexual exploitation, abuse, and harassment (PSEAH) is the individual and collective responsibility of all NAC officers, management, staff, consultants, and volunteers, who are all required to familiarize themselves with, agree to, and act in accordance with NAC’s Ethical Guidelines and Commitment, NAC Child Protection Policy, and NAC PSEAH Policy, at all times – both during and outside working hours – and participate actively in introductory and refresher trainings. Any breaches of PSEAH clauses in NAC’s policies, guidelines, and/or commitments will lead to immediate termination and possible legal actions.

Job Description

NCA seeks a competent and highly motivated Project Coordinator who is a self-starter that can set personal goals, train colleagues, independently identify solutions and build an efficient team. The post holder should be articulate and able to work with different people.

The Project Coordinator is responsible for planning, budgeting, monitoring and reporting the project—the post holder act as a bridge between the Project Manager and the regional coordinators.  

The post holder ensures the project runs smoothly, stays on schedule, and regularly reports the project's progress to the Project Manager.

Job Requirements

The main tasks and responsibilities for this position (supervisory responsibilities, etc.):

The Project Coordinator is responsible to:

  • Ensure that all ICRA project outcomes are delivered on time and within scope and budget.
  • Ensure resources availability and allocation to all regional areas
  • Develop a detailed delivery plan to monitor and track progress
  • Meet budgetary objectives and make adjustments to project constraints based on sound financial analysis
  • Ensure that cross-cutting issues on gender, protection, environment, social cohesion and disaster risk reduction are incorporated
  •  

The main expectations for this position over the next period in regard to strategic targets and plans:

The Project Coordinator is responsible for managing regional coordinators. The post holder provides strategic oversight in delivering ICRA projects on time and within budget. The post holder liaises with ICRA technical leads and ensures that regional staff and partners receive timely and appropriate technical support.

The winning candidate should have excellent leadership and project management skills. The post holder must also be articulate in presenting solutions to problems and have excellent communication and negotiation skills.

 

Required competencies, work experience and proven results from previous positions

  • Minimum 8 years experience working in a senior management role with recognised INGOs, 
  • Proven working experience in project management
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Proven self-management and team management skills
  • Excellent negotiation and internal communications skills
  • Excellent command of the English language, both written and verbal
  • Capacity to make decisions under pressure
  • Experience working through partners / CSOs is highly preferred.
  • Based in Kabul with some travel to NCAs operational provinces.
