About Movement for Protection Organization(MPO)

Movement for protection Organization – MPO is an Afghan National, Non-profitable, non-political, non-governmental civil society organization established in 2007, registered with the Ministry of Economy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan as registration # 1016. MPO is working for protection and emergency response education, livelihood and economic development advocacy and peace building.

 

Job Description

Under the direct supervision of the Provincial Manager and project manager, The Parasocial worker or animator / Educator is responsible for the identification of the most vulnerable children for Nonformal education and PSS activities as per defined selection criteria, with the close collaboration of the social worker, by carrying out recreational, Psychosocial and nonformal educational activities with children and adolescents identified for the CFSs.

•    The children with specific needs are referred to the social workers for CMS.
•    Nonformal education carried out with children based on a proper plan and teaching methodology.
•    PSS activities are carried out with all registered children based on MPO and UNICEF PSS guidelines.
•    Keeping good coordination with social workers and for better implementation of the activities.
•    Children preparation for school integration particularly the children registered in CFS activities.
•    The beneficiaries are well aware of MPO and UNICEF projects and their activities.
•    Make sure during the beneficiaries selection the percentage of 45% returnees: 35 % IDP, 20% HC is considered.
•    Organize PSS activities with children considering COVID-19 measures and MPO guidelines.

Job Requirements

 Identify the outdoor and indoor games for all categories of children and adolescents properly.
2.    Take part in procuring good quality materials relevant to PSS and non-formal educational activities.  
3.    The Child-Friendly Spaces are identified within the communities with the close collaboration of community volunteers based on MPO CFS selection criteria.
4.    Identification of proper and secure places with close coordination of social workers and community elders to organize PSS activities.
5.    Regular visits to the targeted villages for conducting PSS   activities.
6.    Build the capacity to raise awareness of children’s rights, child protection issues, and COVID-19.
7.    Design and implement recreational and psychosocial support (PSS) activities, actively involving children and adolescents (with a strong focus on the child’s specific needs and vulnerabilities) 
8.    Ensure that children get all necessary support during the activities and that rules and discipline are set up in a positive and constructive way 
9.    Prepare activities plan/schedule and arrange materials needed for the activities on a regular basis.
10.    Collect information (attendance sheets, questionnaires, etc.) and report identified cases of children with specific needs/extremely vulnerable children are referred to the social workers
11.    Keep regular recordings of the lessons learned and Success case stories and report them to the Project manager or Project Social worker to be considered in the donor reporting.
12.    Arrange PSS training for Community volunteers with the preparation of all needed training materials.
13.    Attend all required internal and external training and meetings properly.
14.    Report on a weekly basis to the Social worker on the progress of his/her activities.
15.    Perform any other identical duty as assigned by the line supervisor
16.    Warmly receive children when they come to the activities 
17.    Make sure to have enough recreational, and educational materials at the CFSs and create local materials for a smooth and adopted approach for PSS, educational activities with children.
18.    Be careful not to offend any child in the course of your work ( do no harm)
19.    Data collection and maintenance of records on the children's database and shared with the Data clerk. 
20.    "Animation: Organize the children by age groups and implement the activities according to their needs:
21.    Activities with a psychosocial aim, which includes organized and free games and sports,
22.    Expressive activities, i.e. small group discussions on children’s concerns (in collaboration with the Social Workers),
23.    Ensure the confidentiality of the data.
24.    Preparation of the children to be integrated into formal schools already registered in CFSs whose age is from 7 to 13 years.
Child Protection 
25.    Child Protection: Use observation skills to detect any behavioral changes or specific vulnerability in children that may be the reason for concern and share these observations with the immediate supervisor and social workers team at joint weekly staff meetings to determine appropriate responses.
26.    Ensure that all child protection-related activities are in line with child protection minimum relevant standards, and enhance programs/activities based on CPMS.
Safeguarding Policy ( Global Code of Conduct)
27.    Global Code of Conduct ( GCC ) Child Safeguarding Policy (CSP), Policy on the Protection from sexual exploitation and Abuse ( PSEA ), Directive on staff misconduct at workplace and GBV, Operational Risk Management: Undertake to adhere to the MPO safeguarding policy and the principles connected to children's rights
28.    Undertake to ensure the best possible practical implementation of the safeguarding policy (Global Code of Conduct) and the management of operational risks in his/her area of intervention and within his/her team.
29.    Make sure all volunteers, and visitors sign/understand the MPO Global Code of Conduct at a glance and my commitment to child safeguarding.
Safety & Secuirty 
30.    Conduct field visits with the consent of the line manager who checks the security of the area prior.
31.    Report instantly if you observe any security threat, hear any report of any suspicions, or rumors about the safety of the staff and its beneficiaries 
32.    Strictly follow MPO security policy and Provincial security plan.
33.    Ensure and facilitate prompt sharing of information and action on all events relating to security issues.
