Job Description

Responsibilities

The scope of work for medical nurses in the OST program includes but is not limited to:

Patient Assessment: Conduct thorough assessments of the patient's medical history, drug use, and overall health to determine eligibility for OST.
Medication Administration: Administer advised oral substitution medications in a safe and controlled manner, adhering to established protocols and guidelines.
Nursing services: provide nursing services including injections, bandages, vaccinations, and vital signs, attend the night duty.
Monitoring: Monitor patients' progress and response to treatment, including physical well-being. Adjust treatment plans as necessary.
Patient Education: Provide education to patients on the benefits and potential side effects of OST, as well as harm reduction strategies.
Collaboration: Collaborate with MDs, counselors, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care for patients.
Documentation: Maintain accurate and confidential patient records, including medication administration and progress notes.
Crisis Intervention: Be prepared to respond to emergencies or crisis situations, including overdose management.
The medical nurses in the OST program will report directly to the Medical Director

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Requirements:

Registered Nurse (RN) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) with a valid license to practice.
Experience: At least 2 years of experience providing addiction treatment, preferably in an OST setting
Training and certification in addiction medicine, OST, HIV, and a relevant field
Familiarity with OST guidelines
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a non-judgmental and empathetic approach.
