YHDO is a non-governmental and non-for-profit organization established in 2009, registered with ministry of economy in Afghanistan. YHDO works with interdisciplinary professionals to develop and implement innovative, culturally appropriate, evidence based interventions.

 

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  1. Medical Assessment: Conduct comprehensive medical assessments of patients seeking OST services to determine their eligibility and treatment plan.
  2. Treatment Planning: Develop individualized treatment plans, including the selection of appropriate opioid substitution medications and dosages.
  3. Medication Administration: Administer and monitor the dispensing of opioid substitution medications to patients in accordance with established protocols.
  4. Monitoring and Evaluation:
    • Continuously monitor patients' progress, manage side effects, and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
    • Responsible for the planning, implementation, and supervision of all activities in OST and outreach on a regular basis.
  5. Counseling: Provide counseling and support to patients, addressing their physical and psychological needs, and promoting recovery.
  6. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and confidential medical records, including patient histories, treatment plans, and progress notes.
  7. Collaboration: Collaborate with a team, including counselors, social workers, and nurses/pharmacists, to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  8. Education: Provide education and training to patients and their families on OST and harm reduction strategies.
  9. Quality Assurance: Participate in quality assurance activities, including peer reviews and compliance with national guidelines.
  10. Reporting: responsible for providing monthly and quarterly reports, maintaining databases
  11. Other:
    • Follow the YHDO policy, rules, and regulations,
    • Responsible for pharmacy and stock management and reporting
    • Build the staff capacity by providing training,
    • Arrange of weekly and monthly meeting

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  1. Medical Degree: Holder of a valid medical degree.
  2. Experience: At least 2 years of experience providing addiction treatment, preferably in an OST setting, Knowledge of evidence-based OST protocols and psychosocial interventions
  3. Training: Received training in opioid substitution therapy.
  4. Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as Strong clinical and team leadership skills
  5. Team Player: Ability to work effectively as part of a healthcare team.
  6. Empathy: Demonstrated empathy and non-judgmental approach in dealing with patients with substance use disorders.
  7. Confidentiality: Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information.
