The USAID funded Urban Health Initiative (UHI) Program’s goal is to improve health outcomes of people living in urban areas, particularly focusing on the health of women and children and other vulnerable populations. Interventions aim to increase demand, access and quality of health services. Lead by Jhpiego and implemented by a dynamic consortium of organizations, UHI is implemented in five cities in Afghanistan – Kabul, Herat, Mazar-e-Sharif, Jalalabad and Kandahar.
Responsibilities:
• Management of complicated cases.
• Prescribe and ensure appropriate drugs and medical treatment.
• Perform major surgery for selective and emergency cases (C-sections, Hysterectomy,
tubectomy, ovarian cystectomy etc).
• Follow up preoperative and post operative cases.
• On job training of joiner doctors and midwives.
• Supervision of nursing staff and joiner doctors.
• Health education to the women regarding to their problems.
• Provide ANC/PNC to high-risk mothers.
• Perform normal delivery and breech extraction if there is any difficulty.
• Accountable to the patient and have friendly behavior with the patient.
• Work within hospital’s rules and regulations.
• Implement induced/augmented labor if needed.
• Participate in training and meeting as needed.
• Perform related administrative duties and ensure patients’ documentations are
completed.
• Perform other duties directed by the supervisor and line manager.
• Ensure that all procedures related to the prevention of infection are followed
correctly.
• Carry out ultrasound examinations as needed.
• Maintain and ensure safe storage of all equipment use.
• Attending all necessary meetings, workshops and training.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
Medical Degree from recognized Faculty and Specialization in Obs-gyne
approved by MoPH.
Proven work experience as a Gynecologist or similar role for at least three- year.
Relevant training and workshops are advantageous.
Abilities/skills:
• Fluency in local languages and preferably English.
• Good interpersonal communication skills.
• Be respectful and have a proper attitude toward the Clients.
• Good team worker.
