Job Description

  • Screen all children (0-24 months) for Acute malnutrition in the Health Facility.
  • Register and undertake growth monitoring and promotion (GMP) including measure weight, height, age and check edema of all children under two years of age.
  • Conduct GMP based counseling of mothers/caregivers of all children under two years of age on appropriate Maternal Infant and Young Child Nutrition (MIYCN) practices and infection prevention.
  • If the child is normal, encourage and counsel mother to reinforce and promote age appropriate MIYCN practices
  • If child is suffering from SAM, refer to the Nutrition Nurse for giving adequate treatment and counselling.
  • Counsel mothers/ caregiver to bring they’re under two children for the continues monthly GMP visit
  • Undertake Mid Upper Arm Circumference (MUAC) of children 6-23 Month of age
  • Conduct complementary feeding demonstration once per month.
  • Provide technical and hands-on support to the team for arranging training for mother to improve children and nutrition practices.
  • Provide technical to the team for identifying cases of SAM and MAM children (0-6) and facilitate to arrange appropriate health intervention (SAM-referral for acute nutrition support; MAM- improved home-based feeding).
  • Provide individualized nutrition counselling on appropriate MIYCN practices to pregnant and lactating mothers.
  • Prepare activity reports (weekly and monthly) of nutrition component of the project.
  • Any other task assigns by line supervisor or manager.

Job Requirements

  • Non-Negotiable
  • High School certificate or Nursing/midwifery certificate.
  • Having 2 years of relevant work experience in similar health centers after graduating from university.
  • Having team management skills.
  • Mastery of the Dari language and familiarity with English
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work and deal successfully in a multicultural environment.
  • Being patient, maintaining a positive attitude and having the ability to work in crisis situations.
  • Strong interest in health and well-being of all members of society
  • Decent, respectable appearance
  • Honest and hard-working, even without direct supervision
  • Problem solving skills.
