About Organization for Research & Community Development (ORCD )

Organization for Research & Community Development (ORCD) is a Non-governmental, Non-political, Non-profitable and independent organization founded in 2010 by a group of community development and research specialist. The aim of the organization is to contribute to the development of Afghanistan as an integral part of the international community. It envisages accomplishing its aims by building local capacities, generating evidence in various disciplines, promoting evidence-based on best practices and implementing development projects aimed at community development at the grass root level. ORCD is a multi-donor funded NGO, implementing health, agriculture and community development projects in several provinces of the country.
ORCD would like to implement Mobile Health and Nutrition Services (MHNT) Logar province funded by (UNICEF) for which it would like to seek qualified people.

Job Description

Duties and responsibilities:
        ⦁     Act according to the policy of ORCD.

General responsibilities:

The community screener will go HFs and will screen the children and will notified and refer the acutely malnourished children to the OPD SAM and MAM sites .

Objective 1: screening of under five children and Defaulter tracing.

Activities/main duties

• She Conduct anthropometric measurement (weight, height and age), MUAC and check edema of all under five children.
• She Classification of all under five children in categories of well nourished, Moderate Acute Malnutrition (MAM) and Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM).
• Coordination with the community elders, CHWs and volunteer for the defaulter tracing and case detection.
• Proper follow up of the absent cases to avoid being defaulted.
• Follow up of referral cases with related MHT.
• Follow up of detected cases in the next visit from the same site.

Objective 2: Hygiene and Nutrition counseling

Activities/main duties

• She Conduct counseling for pregnant and lactating women and mothers of all under two years children on appropriate infant and young child feeding (IYCF) practices in each site.
• Counselling and referring the SAM, MAM children and acutely malnourished PLWs to the relevant sites
• She Conduct regular nutrition education at each site when Nutrition educator not present.
• Counselling the caregivers on the hygiene promotion practices as needed. 

Objective 3:  Reporting

Activities/main duties

• Registering and reporting all activities done at the community level including number of screening, counselling and nutrition education sessions conducted.
• She is responsible for providing all his activities reports and information to his line supervisor.

Reporting of referred cases.

• Excellent report-writing skills
