We are helping children get a better education, we make it possible for more boys and girls to attend school, we help children protect themselves and influence their own conditions. We work with families, communities and health workers in homes, clinics and hospitals to promote basic health in order to save lives of children and mothers

Job Description

Graphic Design and Branding (50%):

  • Create visually appealing graphics, including but not limited to social media posts, infographics, banners, logos, and other marketing materials.
  • Develop cohesive designs that align with brand guidelines and effectively communicate key messages.
  • Assist team multimedia in conceptualizing and executing design projects that meet specific objectives and deadlines.
  • Apply typography, color theory, composition, and other design principles to create visually appealing and effective communications.
  • Design visually engaging graphics for social media posts using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign, with hand illustration skills being a plus.
  • To enhance social media presence and user engagement, conceptualize and produce multimedia content, such as videos, animations, and interactive graphics.
  • Assist in designing branded content and collateral for various marketing channels and platforms, such as social media, email campaigns, websites, and print materials.
  • Curate relevant and compelling visual content from various sources to supplement original creations and maintain a consistent posting schedule.

Social Media Management(40%):

  • Assist in managing and maintaining various social media platforms, including content creation, scheduling, and engagement.
  • Assist in managing Save the Children's social media platforms by creating and scheduling content, monitoring engagement, and analyzing performance metrics.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in social media content creation and engagement to continuously improve the organization's digital presence.
  • Generate engaging and shareable content optimized for each platform, focusing on increasing brand visibility and driving audience engagement.
  • Track and analyze performance metrics across social media and graphic design initiatives, providing regular reports and insights to inform future strategies.
  • Use data-driven insights to optimize content, design, and posting strategies for maximum reach, engagement, and conversion.
  • Monitor social media channels for trends, comments, and feedback, and respond promptly and professionally as needed.

Collaboration and Communication(10%):

  • Work closely with marketing, communications, and other departments to align social media and design efforts with broader organizational goals and campaigns.
  • Collaborate with the communications team to develop multimedia content aligned with the organization's communication strategy.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to gather information and content for social media posts, including program activities, success stories, and advocacy campaigns.
  • Build and maintain healthy relationships with Save the Children teams at all levels, including sub-national, national, and international, through a positive and proactive approach

Support content-gathering activities in the field and in coordination with ACCM and other department colleagues, including developing/capturing audio and video of program and campaign activities and conducting all required post-production editing.

Job Requirements

  • To be successful you will have a degree or equivalent experience in visual communication with significant experience of working professionally producing visual design for integrated projects across both print and digital platforms. 
  • Proficiency in graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Canva, or similar tools.
  • Relevant knowledge, interest, and enthusiasm in integrated communications campaigns;
  • Possess a varied, high-quality portfolio of work; and excellent visual and creative skills, with a portfolio showcasing original designs and multimedia content.

Flexibility and a willingness to embrace new and innovative methods of working.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Multimedia Arts, Communications, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a multimedia and design capacity, preferably with an NGO
  • Excellent design skills
  • Previous experience in social media management, content creation, or digital marketing is desirable.
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms, trends, and best practices, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok, and emerging platforms.
  • Familiarity with basic video editing and motion graphics software is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, Dari, and Pashtu, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office package.
  • Able to travel to provinces and spend time in field locations.
  • Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children's aims, values and principles.
  • Good conceptual and analytical thinking, and good attention to detail.

HIGHLY DESIRABLE

  • Experience in photography and videography.
