Interventions aim to increase demand, access and quality of health services. Lead by Jhpiego and implemented by a dynamic consortium of organizations, UHI is implemented in five cities in Afghanistan – Kabul, Herat, Mazar-e-Sharif, Jalalabad and Kandahar.

Job Description

Position Overview

The MLMCC Associated Manager will work with the city teams to support MLMCC implementation across the UHI’s project cities. The MLMCC Associate Manager will build capacity and strengthen the performance of teams working in the MLMCCs.  Provide support to the team working in MLMCCs to improve the quality of service delivery and client-centered care based on the MLMCC model of work.

Main responsibilities:

  • Support the cities in leading and managing the MLMCCs implementation
  • Support the MLMCCs specialist to ensure quality service provision in UHI project MLMCCs.
  • Provision of technical support to the MLMCCs to establish, implement, and assess G- ANC and PNC group care in MLMCCs   
  • Contribute to the implementation of mentorship approaches in MLMCCs to build the capacity of midwives to provide care with dignity, respect, and quality
  • Participate in the project’s internal meetings and share challenges and lessons learned in implementing MLMCCs in different contexts
  • Support the development of work plans and MLMCC guideline implementation
  • Supports capacity building of key stakeholders and professional associations on MLMCC program implementation
  • Comply with UHI operational, risk management, and other guidelines and policies.
  • Support the cities in leading, coordinating and facilitating MLMCCs meetings, trainings, workshops 
  • Ensure documentation of MLMCC implementation activities
  • Support the assessment/ gap analysis and development process
  • Advocate /contribute to the development of a sustainability plan for MLMCCs

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Graduate degree from midwifery program with experience providing clinical care
  • 5-7 years of work experience in the health sector especially work with NGOs and INGOs
  • Experience with leading a team of midwives on clinical skills, Mentorship Programs

 

Abilities and Skills:

  • Ability to coach, mentor, and develop technical capacity in national programs and technical staff in MLMCC program activities
  • Ability to work successfully in teams, across a diverse team in a complex environment with multiple tasks, short deadlines, and intense pressure to perform
  • Strong skills in facilitation, team building and coordination
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including strong writing, analytical, and communication skills in Dari, Pashtu, and English
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office software applications (Excel, Word, Outlook Explorer, PowerPoint) is advantageous
  • Ability to coordinate and represent the project and organization nationally with professionalism
  • Committed to travel in UHI targeted cities.
