The USAID funded Urban Health Initiative (UHI) Program’s goal is to improve health outcomes of people living in urban areas, particularly focusing on the health of women and children and other vulnerable populations. Interventions aim to increase demand, access and quality of health services. Lead by Jhpiego and implemented by a dynamic consortium of organizations, UHI is implemented in five cities in Afghanistan – Kabul, Herat, Mazar-e-Sharif, Jalalabad and Kandahar.
Filling registers as well as recording essential data related to the reproductive health’s
clients.
2. Performing ANC examinations, general physical examinations and checking vaccination
card for prescription of TTs vaccination.
3. Conduction of daily health education sessions.
4. Provision of information to mothers regarding plans and arrangements for delivery.
5. Performing delivery and post-natal care in delivery room.
6. Recommendation of prophylactic treatments for women in alignment with guidelines
and standard protocols.
7. Cooperation with medical doctors in triage of patients to prioritize who need urgent
help.
8. Spotting women with danger signs and symptoms and referring them to medical doctor.
9. Giving awareness about ANC, PNC and family planning to women and highlighting their
importance.
10. Active contribution in the IP, HMIS and QI committees.
11. Proper maintenance of accommodations and materials within labor and delivery rooms.
12. Coordination with the rest of the staff to provide better health services.
13. Preparing of monthly reports of institutional delivery, family planning, ANC and PNC
along with daily usage of tally sheets and HMIS forms.
14. Consideration of hygiene and IP delivery, labor and high-risk rooms. Maintain and ensure
Graduate from recognized midwifery institute.
More the 2-year’ experience in the same position.
Graduate degree – Midwifery certificate from the recognized universities.
• Having at least 2 years clinical experience working in BPHS health facilities and
hospital and familiarity with HMIS tools and reporting format.
• Attending midwifery competency-based training and demonstrating competency skills is
advantageous.
Abilities/ skills:
• Ability to work successfully in teams, across a diverse team in a complex environment with
multiple tasks, short deadlines and intense pressure to perform
• Strong skills in facilitation, team building and coordination
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including strong writing,
analytical and communication skills in Dari, Pashtu and English (preferable)
