Job Description

  • Providing services, essential health care and counseling for women during pregnancy, during childbirth and after childbirth
  • Conduct deliveries on her own and care for the newborn infant
  • Care of complications during pregnancy and childbirth, according to the basic standards of urgent care of childbirth
  • Providing basic health care for women of reproductive age according to the Basic Health Services (BPHS)
  • Providing all non-surgical family planning methods and counseling for surgical methods
  • Coordination and obtaining specific help that is urgent and necessary (in the form of counseling and referral)
  • Perform limited, select administrative duties such as patient charting, recording, and reporting of data; clinic and/or facility management (as required);
  • Work together with MCNH Trainers to bring knowledge to the community as needed
  • Follow the policies, procedures and objectives of the established health center to continuously improve the quality of health services, environmental safety standards and disinfection by launching new initiatives.
  • Give the necessary supervision, care, and advice to women during pregnancy, labor, and the postpartum period
  • Refer emergency obstetric cases and other cases as appropriate.
  • Complete registration and reporting systems
  • Provide examination and guidance of pregnant women.
  • Assist obstetric cases and newborn care.
  • Provide examination and guidance of women after delivery.
  • Observe danger signs in pregnancy, delivery, and after delivery and manage appropriately.
  • Provide family planning and guidance of mothers.
  • Apply asepsis and antiseptic techniques
  • Perform sterilization.
  • Refer emergency obstetric and abortion management
  • Provide relevant health education for mothers.
  • Refer mothers to Nutrition Nurse and MCNH training as appropriate.

Job Requirements

  • Having a certificate of midwifery education approved by the Ministry of Public Health
  • Having two years of clinical work experience
  • Mastery of the Dari language and familiarity with English
  • Work experience with other health organizations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work and deal successfully in a multicultural environment.
  • Strong interest in health and well-being of all members of society
  • Decent, respectable appearance
  • Honest and hard-working, even without direct supervision
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Specific knowledge:
  • Knowledge and skills regarding registration and reporting systems
  • Knowledge and skills in examination and guidance of pregnant women.
  • Knowledge and skills for helping obstetric cases and newborn care.
  • Knowledge and skills in examination and guidance of women after delivery.
  • Knowledge and skills in observation of danger signs in pregnancy, delivery, and after delivery and management of them.
  • Knowledge and skills in family planning and guidance of mothers.
  • Knowledge and skills needed for asepsis and antiseptic techniques and application of them.
  • Informed about sterilization and skills to use it.
  • Knowledge and skills in emergency obstetric and abortion management
  • Knowledge and skills in health education for mothers.
