Job Description

Job Summary

The midwife is responsible for overall management and provide adequate RMNCH services for the women who attend the health facility.

 

Job Description

  • Implement a program for essential obstetric care in the area of coverage.
  • Provide family planning services to the CBA women.
  • Precise routines for proper sterilization of equipment and materials.
  • Be aware of the BPHS package and assess the activities accordingly.
  • Examine and diagnose patients received in the health facility whenever convenient.
  • Fill the registry book, in a continuous manner (and while the patient is present), recording all patient data, diagnosis, prescriptions, referrals, advice, and other facts corresponding to examinations.
  • Ensure correct filling of statistical data on diseases and treatment.
  • Ensure the proper use and maintenance of equipment and material in the health facility.
  • Give proper feedback to the health community-based program (CHWs) working in the area of health facilities.
  • Compile and Check monthly HMIS reports and Provide monthly MCH activity reports.
  • Provide basic newborn care including neonatal resuscitation, thermal care, skin to skin contact, eye care ((tetracycline eye ointment 1%), cord clamping and use of Chlorhexidine gel for cord care and early initiation of breast feeding
    • Provide normal delivery services for pregnant women in the need of cases
    •  Identify danger sign and complications including Ante –Partum hemorrhage, Post-Partum Hemorrhage, Pre-Eclampsia/Eclampsia, anemia, and puerperal infections and refer to higher level
    • Provide health services for GBV cases
    • Ensure all mothers are screened with malnutrition and identified cases should be given proper counseling
    • Ensure that pregnant women receive adequate daily Iron and folic acid tablets
    •  Promote consumption of iodized salt
    • Give health education on reproductive health issues and information on IYCF for pregnant and lactating women
    • Keep proper record of all the activities done and prepare weekly/monthly reports
    • Giving Nutrition education to pregnant and lactating mothers of children receiving nutrition services
    • Giving IYCF specific counseling to U2 children's' mothers
    • Focus group discussion between group of mothers of well-nourished children and malnourished children
    • Meeting with community elders for community awareness and sensitization
    • Conducting food demonstration sessions in community 
    • Giving specific counseling to the mothers of SAM and MAM children regarding proper complementary feeding in different stages of life
    • Counseling to pregnant and lactating women for getting additional food.
    • Encouraging mothers to receive Iron Folic Acid (IFA) during lactation and pregnancy.
    • Provide health and nutrition educations to the caregivers and beneficiaries on (breastfeeding, complementary feeding, and hygiene, care of pregnant and lactating women, prevention of illness).
    • Check vaccinations of patients and refer to vaccination section when required.
    • Ensure equipment in the field is secure and clean at all times and ensure that after the field visit, equipment is cleaned and prepared for use during the following day
    • Any other task assigned by the line supervisor
     

Job Requirements

  • MoPH certified Midwife
  • At least 2 years r experience with BPHS
  • Familiar with RMNCH needed training is a plus point
  • Good communication skills
  • Demonstrated skills in health project management and ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Ability to support provincial team and provide/receive constructive feedback
  • Good communication and counselling skills
