The USAID funded Urban Health Initiative (UHI) Program’s goal is to improve health outcomes of people living in urban areas, particularly focusing on the health of women and children and other vulnerable populations. Interventions aim to increase demand, access and quality of health services. Lead by Jhpiego and implemented by a dynamic consortium of organizations, UHI is implemented in five cities in Afghanistan – Kabul, Herat, Mazar-e-Sharif, Jalalabad and Kandahar.
Responsibilities:
• Provide inpatient services such as diagnosing and treating illnesses and medical conditions.
• Decision making on ordering, performing, and interpreting diagnostic tests based on clinical status
of patients.
• Collecting, recording, and maintaining patients' information and histories.
• Prescribing and administering treatments, medications, vaccinations, ventilator management and
other specialized medical care.
• Explaining procedures and discussing test results or prescribed treatments with patients and family
members.
• Monitoring patients' conditions and progress.
• Directing, coordinating, consulting with, and referring patients to nurses, students, assistants,
specialists, therapists, and other medical staff.
• Advising patients, parents, and guardians on diets, activities, hygiene, and disease prevention.
• Performing night duties on management of patients in hospital
• Any other task assign by management
Job Requirements:
Qualification Required:
Certified Medical Doctor and Internal Medicine Specialist.
At least two years of work experience in a related positions.
Abilities/Skills:
• Ability to work successfully in teams, across a diverse team in a complex environment with multiple
tasks, short deadlines and intense pressure to perform
• Strong skills in facilitation, team building and coordination
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including strong writing, analytical and
communication skills in Dari, Pashtu and English (preferable)
