About AWEC

AWEC is a non-political, non-profit, woman-headed national organization established in 1991 by a group of educated Afghan women in exile, who rallied together to address the lack of facilities for Afghan refugees in Islamabad and eventually Peshawar, in Pakistan. AWEC has always been involved in advocacy and awareness-raising for women and children’s rights while providing services to those who frequently fall through safety nets. In recent years, one of AWEC’s core activities has been to support women through mobilizing Afghans, from local communities to political elites, towards the goal of reducing and eventually eliminating violence against women.

Job Description

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Implement the project monitoring and evaluation strategy and recommend any possible changes based on the lessons learned at the regional/ local level.
  • Monitor project activities in Nangarhar province and report to AWEC main office
  • Ensure that the established guidelines on project monitoring and evaluation for different project components are respected;
  • Review the performance indicators produce reports by different stakeholders and recommend necessary changes for program improvement.
  • Develop criteria and evaluation schemes for the project outcome and impact benefit and sustainability and update reports to the line manager.
  • Oversee and execute M&E activities included in the Annual Work Plan with particular focus on results and impacts.
  • Prepare consolidated progress reports for project management including identification of problems and causes of potential bottlenecks in project implementation and providing specific recommendations to the line manager.
  • Provide input into the design implementation and dissemination of evaluations special studies and assessments.
  • Quarterly basis data collection analysis and dissemination and report to the line manager in order for greater program improvements and result-based management.
  • Seek ways to streamline the process and increase efficiency in gathering and using performance information.
  • Develop project-related indicators for program improvements and project implementation including outputs and outcomes and program impacts.

Technical oversight

  • Set up operational arrangements for collecting analyzing and reporting project data and for investing in capacity building to sustain the Monitoring and Evaluation function;
  • Assist with the program team in the development of proposals
  • Assist in improving communication and information sharing between different stakeholders and team facilitators or team leaders.
  • Prepare TORs for special studies when necessary (e.g. Impact monitoring and evaluation studies;
  • Prepare quarterly and annual reports and assist in the preparation of the annual work plans;
  • Any other task assigned by the line manager

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • University degree or diploma in social science with at least 3 years’ experience in the field.
  • Experience in WASH project monitoring and evaluation is considered as an advantage
  • in war-affected areas or rural and remote environments
  • Familiarity with private, and multi-lateral donors reporting and monitoring procedures
  • Strong networking, and communication skills
  • Ability to work in unstable insecurity environments and tight schedules
  • Ability to adapt to changing requirements
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Fluency in English
