CONSULTANT FOR CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT TRAINING AND MANUAL DEVELOPMENT
Our organization is currently implementing a Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) project with the objective of enhancing the capacity of national NGOs and local structures in the areas of health, nutrition, and WASH activities. As part of this endeavor, we are seeking a consultant to develop a comprehensive training program and manual for organizational policy and capacity development.
ActionAid Afghanistan has undertaken an initial training assessment to discern the specific training and capacity development requirements of targeted healthcare professionals. While a considerable portion of our targeted healthcare centers report that healthcare professionals, including doctors and nurses, possess rudimentary knowledge regarding the handling of healthcare waste, further investigation reveals that these professionals primarily engage in self-directed management meetings with healthcare facility cleaners and ancillary support staff, such as drivers, cooks, and caretakers, to address waste management and maintain overall facility cleanliness and hygiene.
However, interviews conducted with guards, cleaners, and cooks within these facilities reveal a notable gap in structured training pertaining to the safe handling of healthcare waste. Furthermore, a lack of established schedules or regular timetables for cleaning and maintenance, particularly in relation to WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) services, is evident. Consequently, there exists a pressing need to provide comprehensive training encompassing contemporary WASH practices, Infection Prevention and Control protocols, vector management, acute watery diarrhea (AWD)/cholera prevention, and healthcare waste management to these personnel.
The selected consultant will also be responsible for Training of Trainers (ToT) for our staff, who will subsequently implement the following key activities:

These manuals should include clear procedures, protocols, and best practices for ensuring effective WASH, infection prevention, and control measures, as well as guidelines for the promotion of menstrual hygiene management.
3. Training of Trainers (ToT): Conduct a ToT for our staff members to ensure successful implementation of the training programs and activities in the field. The consultant should prepare and deliver a comprehensive training package for the ToT.
4. Monitoring and Evaluation: Assist in the development of monitoring and evaluation tools to track the progress and impact of training programs and activities.
5. Reporting: Provide regular progress reports and a final comprehensive report detailing the methodologies, findings, and outcomes of the capacity development initiatives.
