The Swedish Committee for Afghanistan (SCA) has been working in Afghanistan since 1982, presently managing development Programs concerning Health, Education, Rural Livelihoods and Community Governance, with a total annual budget of roughly USD 40 million. The total number of staff is slightly over 7,386.During the last 10 years SCA has undertaken a change process moving from a primarily humanitarian service delivery approach towards more of a developmental role, putting increasing emphasis on capacity development, rights-based programming, and outcome orientation. The mission of SCA is to empower individuals, communities, and local organizations, primarily in rural areas and with particular focus on women, girls, boys and vulnerable groups such as people with disabilities, so that they may participate fully in society and influence their own development. Job Description

Scope of work:

The Master Trainer (MT) is a technical member of the Education Project team at the Regional Management Offices (RMO) level. In cooperation with the team members, she/he is responsible for capacity building of education program/project’s target beneficiary including school’s teachers, line departments staff’s teacher elected councils shuras, education prog/project staffs with a particular focus on relevant field of study and school management in line with SCA Education Prog/Project policies and guidelines and procedures. He or She is responsible to provide the required assistance to the Education Senior Training officer (STO) in planning, budgeting, monitoring, evaluations, implementation, and reporting to SCA education prog/project related to the activity and he or she needs to spend 85% of his or her time to the field/schools to ensure for improvement of students learning outcome at schools within relevant field through a proper and friendly manner. And inclusively work with target beneficiaries, community, teachers elected council and education staff.

He or she provides training manuals and academic as well as methodical materials for different types of trainings and school’s teacher workshop that is planned to conduct and follow up from trainings already conducted to target groups including school teachers, relevant sector authority, teacher elected councils and school management shuras and etc…

Main Responsibilities:

  • Act according to the policy and regulations of SCA.
  • Actively contribute to the successful development and good reputation of the SCA.
  • Strictly follow the SCA staff handbook (SHB) and financial regulations and procedures.
  • Develop the capacity of SCA education program, CBE teachers, PED/DED staff, Hub school teachers, SMC members, and inclusive education resource person (IERPs).
  • Work closely with EFSs for more supporting teachers, provision of quality education for students, and get feedbacks on CBE training need and teachers need assessment.
  • Maintain regular visits to the CBSs and Coaching Classes, conduct class observations and provide mentoring support to the CBE, and Coaching Classes teachers and have the ability of field analysis from schools.
  • Provision of follow up action plan for conducted trainings and conducting on job support trainings for CBE and Coaching Classes teachers and transferring knowledge to teachers.
  • Conducting the trainings for target groups according to the annual plan and consider SCA financial regulation as well staff efficiency.
  • Ensure that target groups clearly got the subject matter and apply in their classes during their daily teachings and followed with a proper mechanism.
  • Good interpersonal communication skills and behavior changes to result the planned activities with adopted changes of teachers and students.
  • Supervise the training participants as team worker, and analysis participants daily learning/ improvements with provision of constructive feedbacks and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to the project sites alone within Afghanistan and adjust her/ himself to SCA environment.
  • Honestly, proactively, and time bound working in education team with proper mannered and having full focus on quality and target achievements.
  • Able to work independently in target areas and adopt to the changes.
  • Experience of planning, reporting, budgeting, analyzing, and context analysis.
  • Design training material/manuals and conduct trainings in close coordination with Provisional Education Directorate (PED) and District Education Department (DED).
  • To ensure coordination among MTs in terms of planning, materials developing, initiatives with respect to staff and Local Education Authority’s capacity development and Teachers Training in proper mechanism.
  • Design and implement training follow up mechanism and ensure based support and guidance to the teachers, head teachers, students, and other beneficiaries.
  • To participate in workshops, seminars & conference organized by the education program.
  • Develop low/no cost teaching and learning, materials by involving teachers, students, and Education Field Supervisors based on Project Based Learning (PBL)
  • Produce success stories/case studies and share with communication section through concerned supervisor.
  • Ability on transfer/ cascade of the knowledge, trainings, manuals, guidelines, any other documents for education team.
  • Act and adhere from line supervisor instructions, feedbacks, and timely sharing the gaps with line supervisor and education manager.
  • Submit monthly, weekly, and daily work plan along with reports to the concern supervisor on regular basis.
  • Do, any other duties assign by the line supervisor and sometime full week working in target areas according to the annual plan.
  • Develop regular reports and provide updates to the Education Project and Program Management teams.
  • Any other task assigned by line supervisor.

Job Requirements

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education Faculty (Social Science given priority) 

Experience:

  • 3 to 4 years of relevant experience in education program/ capacity development, training, and workshop conduction within the relevant fields of education, preferably in NGOs.
  • Proper/adequate experience and required the ability to work in remote areas and with hard-to-reach communities in target districts/schools.
  • Experienced in Training Trainers, coaching, leading a team, mentoring, teaching, school supervision, school observation, and experience in staff capacity building in the relevant field of education and conducting job pieces of training. If required. 

Others:

  • Fluent in Dari and Pashto both in written and spoken
  • Computer and English language skills at operator level, particularly in MS Office package including PowerPoint.
  • To have the required ability and commitment to travel in remote areas in target district/schools to ensure the provision of high-quality training/workshops to target groups.
  • To have a basic knowledge and experience in training planning, reporting, budgeting and required.
  • To have the ability and experience in terms trainings needs assessment and analysis and evaluation.
  • Familiar/understanding NGO rules and regulations and interested to working in fields particular in hard-to-reach areas/schools.
