The USAID funded Urban Health Initiative (UHI) Program’s goal is to improve health outcomes of people living in urban areas, particularly focusing on the health of women and children and other vulnerable populations. Interventions aim to increase demand, access and quality of health services. Lead by Jhpiego and implemented by a dynamic consortium of organizations, UHI is implemented in five cities in Afghanistan – Kabul, Herat, Mazar-e-Sharif, Jalalabad and Kandahar.
Responsibilities:
Periodically tours buildings and grounds, examining doors, windows, and gates to determine that:
they are secure and not tampered with
o a. Check all hospital doors on an hourly basis
o b. Check physician offices and mobiles at least twice a shift
o c. Check parking lots at least three times a shift
o Confronts unauthorized persons for questioning, routes or detains them, or telephones
police for
assistance, according to circumstances
Sounds fire signal to alert fire department and hospital personnel in event of fire to extinguish.

Patrols hospital grounds to detect unauthorized persons or vehicles
Checks cars and verifies if vehicles are parked in restricted areas, such as fire zones, turnarounds,
ambulance entrances or reserved parking spaces
Checks exterior lighting and access routes to emergency and fire entrances
Escorts personnel to and from parking lots or between buildings as requested
Answers visitor’s questions concerning locations of various offices, rooms, and other areas
within the hospital
Assist patients for enrolling to MLMCC Ward
While receiving letter and any other issues must firstly check and ensure to submit for related
person accordingly
Always brief your replacement about events on your shift and Submit/receive the mobile phone,
radio etc while changing the shift.
Ensure that you check gutters, cracks and out of view places when you patrol the inside and
outside of the perimeter in every one hour.
Ensure all rubbish is cleared away from the front of yours and the neighbor(s) compound.
Ensure that no vehicles are parked in front of the compound. If you cannot identify the driver, find
him. If you cannot find him alert your supervisor.
Ensure that each item going out has an authorized gate pass form
If you find an explosive device or suspect object do not touch it, move at least 100 meters away
behind solid cover and alert security forces.
During the night one guard must be awake at all times.
Sleep during working hours is highly prohibited and will cause for your immediate termination of
your employment
The mobile phone is for emergency use only. Do not take it out of compound, or use it for personal
purposes.
At guest houses during emergencies always call for help either use the mobile phone, shout and
seek help from neighboring houses, alert people inside the house and notify your supervisor to call
the police and office guards.
Turn On and turn Off of generator on a proper schedule prepared by the office.
Put on/off the compound lights in evening/morning and ensure the functionality
Refueling the generator and recording the fuel consumption on the generator log book.

Required Qualifications:
At least 1-2 year experience in a similar position
Able to read and write in Dari / Pashto, English will be preferable.
