The RAWNAQ project is an EU-funded project which is implemented by the Norwegian Refugee Council and Cordaid. The program aims to create employment opportunities for Internally Displaced People and Returnees through private sector development initiatives. The project has started in January 2020 and will continue till June 2023, implemented in Herat and Kandahar cities of Afghanistan.
The project has two pillars; provision of technical assistance and constant BDS support to micro, small and medium enterprises ((M)SMEs) to further grow, expand and scale-up business operations and undertake innovative solutions to overcome challenges in the selected value chains, and, on the other hand, supporting youth from displaced and vulnerable host communities/families living in those areas to secure and retain decent jobs in these MSMEs.
Cordaid directly implements the component “Business Acceleration” of the project and provides capacity building in two phases. Phase one concerns training on the Business Model Canvas and consists of six theoretical and two practical sessions. Following their graduation from Phase 1, (M)SMEs with a high level of motivation and capacity to grow their business are admitted into Phase 2 of the project. This phase starts with an assessment of their operations and then the provision of technical and BDS support based on the gaps and needs identified during the assessment. Some of the needs identified concern the efficient operations, maintenance, upgrading, and capacity building on machinery and equipment used in their business.
We are looking for motivated and qualified consultants to provide this support to them.
Upon successful completion of the recruitment phase (Interview, Case study), the consultant will join Cordaid’s Consultancy Database and will be selected upon the needs of the (M)SMEs. Cordaid, the consultant and the (M)SME will determine the deliverables of each consultancy assignment jointly. Each assignment has a maximum duration of 25 days.
