Job Description

Position summary:

The Life Skill Educator is an important part of the War Child Canada’s Program Implementation team. The position holder will be responsible for provision of support to youths, adolescent and children in coordination and direct management of the Multipurpose Youth Center (MYC) Coordinator. He/she will be responsible to engage male and female youths through providing life skills education that includes awareness sessions on SRHR with a focus on peer education and healthy lifestyles including hygiene promotions, problem solving and critical thinking, and prevention of violence. He/she will also be responsible to establish and support peer-based youth networks by supporting youth networks at community level, educate youths to get knowledge on human rights and protection issues, have meaningful participation in decision-making, volunteerism and help to identify young survivors of violence. dialogues.

Specific duties and responsibilities:

  • Provision of support to youths, adolescent and children in coordination and direct management of the Multipurpose Youth Center (MYC) Coordinator,
  • Review and refine existing training modules on life skills education,
  • Work with community to encourage youths and adolescent to engage them in the program,
  • Work with supervisor in planning and implementing activities related to psychosocial life skill including community education, group and individual counseling sessions,
  • Providing life skills training/ session including awareness sessions on SRHR with focus on peer education and healthy lifestyles including hygiene promotions, problem solving and critical thinking and prevention of violence,
  • Develop and follow up of the action plan based to the project DIP,
  • Providing PSS counseling to vulnerable youths and adolescent who are at risk of child marriage and abuse,
  • Visit field and conduct life skill training to the CBPM members and build their capacity,
  • Provide technical assistance to other programs as requested.
  • File reports for activities and accomplishments on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, or as otherwise assigned.
  • Identify and support in the professional capacity building of the WCC program PSS team,
  • Prepare and submit reports to the MYC coordinator.
  • Identify, collect and record success stories/cases studies and best practiced activities for improvement of the programs on regular bases.
 

Job Requirements

Academic Background and Knowledge

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychosocial
  • Total work experience, at least 5 years of work experience preferably with INGOs or NGOs in program management
  • Sector experience, a minimum of 3-to-4-year(s) work experience related to supporting youths, adolescent and children on psychosocial counseling and life skill activities.

Skills

 

  • Excellent in written and verbal English with good analytical and critical thinking skills. 
  • Dari or Pashtu is mandatory
  • Good Communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good knowledge of community development specifically working with women, children and adolescents.
  • Problem solving skills
  • Excellent computer, MS office skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Flexibility and ability to work under pressure and meeting of deadlines
  • Good reporting skills including report compilation
  • Culture sensitive and respect for local norms
  • Confidentiality and privacy
  • Willingness to travel and stay in remote areas and inhospitable environment
