Job Description

The Job Development/ Business Development Service Counselor is an important and integral part of War Child Canada’s programs implementation team and will responsible for providing training on job placement, job development, education and counseling on employability skills, access to employment, provide computer education such as CV preparation, interview skills etc. He/she will be responsible for mapping of the job opportunities, link the youths to organization looking for qualified youths etc.

Specific duties and responsibilities:

  • Under the supervision of Project Manager and MYC Coordinator, he/she will be responsible for the following up day-to-day activities of the project including:
  • Prepare training modules for the youth capacity building on different issues such as CV development, interview preparation, life skills, computer programs etc
  • Provide training to youths CV development, interview preparation etc
  • Provide education and counselling on employability skills to youths
  • Establish  and support youth peer-based youths networks by supporting youth networks at community level
  • Mapping of service providers, which are looking for qualified youths
  • Link qualified youths for employment in organizations
  • Conduct a market assessment in project location/operational areas, and identify the venerable host community for the employment  
  • Develop, and maintain an updated excel database (soft copy) of all enrolled youths for job placement
  • Closely cooperate with VT trainers to develop the VT syllabus, and curriculum, and make sure market development standards are available in the centers.
  • Create mutual coordination on the project implementation with key stakeholders, youth associations, NGOs, and other De facto authorities.  
  • Establish contact and maintain a list of local enterprises employer’s clients
  • Conduct the business, and market development training for the target group on a regular base.
  • Responsible for raising awareness, knowledge and compatibility of program beneficiaries and BD service providers to strengthen the outreach and to achieve the project targets
  • Record monthly results and report back to the MYC Coordinator/ Project Manager  
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly progress reports and submit to supervisor
  • Ensure proper filling of attendance sheets, business plans etc
  • Conduct phone call and follow up with beneficiaries if necessary
  • Collect case studies and success stories according to WCC format
  • Participate in project staff meetings, and ensure effective communication
  • Facilitate weekly youths and women group meetings to discuss progress challenges and solutions.
  • Perform any other tasks requested by the line manager
 

Job Requirements

Academic Background and Knowledge

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Technical Vocational Education Business Administration (BBA) Commerce (B. Com) Economics or development studies
  • 3-4 years’ relevant experience in vocational training marketing and livelihoods implementation.
  • Demonstrated budget management skills; good report writing and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent Dari Pashto and English language skills.
  • Proficiency in the use of computer office applications and email.
  • Strong livelihoods business development and marketing skills
  • Ability to regularly travel to the project sites for doing fieldwork.
  • Should be familiar with the area’s cultural traditions and its sensitiveness
  • Experience in working with and coordinating with INGOs and other stakeholders
  • Strong interpersonal intercultural and communication skills
  • Enthusiasm and commitment to improving others’ livelihoods opportunities and engaging with rural communities and marginalized urban households
  • Able to provide clear and brief monthly quarterly and final project reports
