About Jhpiego

The USAID funded Urban Health Initiative (UHI) Program’s goal is to improve health outcomes of people living in urban areas, particularly focusing on the health of women and children and other vulnerable populations. Interventions aim to increase demand, access and quality of health services. Lead by Jhpiego and implemented by a dynamic consortium of organizations, UHI is implemented in five cities in Afghanistan – Kabul, Herat, Mazar-e-Sharif, Jalalabad and Kandahar.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Perform and provide LAN and WAN support, troubleshooting and services for UHI project in order to smooth running all needed IT operations. Manage, maintain and troubleshoot IT resources and network problems.
  • Maintain and monitor the Internet connectivity.
  • Provide support to users in Office 365.
  • Assisting the Network Administrator for preparing the short- and long-term IT plans
  • Having a regular survey of software & hardware updates.
  • Assist the Network Administrator to configure and maintain users’ Home Directories.
  • Quickly respond to problems or interruption in network access to staff and Network Administrator.
  • Assist the ICT Manager to ensure that IT policies/standards are followed and maintained.
  • Assist the ICT Manager to Identify the need for new systems/technology or modifications to existing systems.
  • Plan, manage, supervise and observe all IT Equipment (Having a complete inventory of IT Equipment and maintain the inventory database on regular basis and assist the Network Administrator with the physical availability of the IT Equipment.)
  • To submit the regular IT reports to the ICT Manager.
  • Maintain coordination of communications with all parties inside and outside the office.
  • Responsible for being on time to work consistently and being flexible to support projects that require off hours activities
  • Carries out other relevant duties as assigned by the ICT Manager

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • Certified of Network + or equivalent
  • Experience working with Cisco switches and Sonic points.
  • Be qualified for troubleshooting, hardware and software problems as well as networking problems.
  • Good communication skills (oral and written) in Dari/Pashto and English.
  • Good interpersonal skills conducive to work in a team setting.
  • A strong work ethic and sense of pride in one’s work.
  • Minimum of 2 to 3 years’ experience in a technical IT role, preferably in an international NGO.
  • Willingness to travel in-country required. Travel time may be up to 10%.
  • Good coaching and training skills
