Job Description

  • Strict compliance with the rules established in the hospital.
  • Responsible for all infectious disease patients of OPD, IPD (Ward and ICU department) and dividing the duties of employees, monitoring and controlling them
  • Responsible for the accurate and consistent reporting and daily tally of the patients.
  • Ensuring the supply of health services according to the national standards and availability of IEC in all sections of the hospital.
  • Diagnosing, treating and caring for infectious disease patients and organizing round-the-clock patient care
  •  Responsible for accurate follow-up from register and treatment follow-up, information collection and unification of HMIS monthly reports.
  •  Pursuing on applying and maintaining infection prevention protocols and standards in all procedures in the hospital.
  •  Immediate identification and reporting of any problem that hinders the achievement of program goals and take proper action in close coordination with the technical team.
  • Participation in the design and implementation of training during the execution of duties for hospital staff.
  •  Regular and daily monitoring of the work of the relevant incoming employees.
  •  Supervision of the proper filling of medical documents, and files (IPD files) of patients admitted in the hospital.
  •  Timely resolution of problems in medical matters.
  • Active participation to coordinate affairs and raise the quality of health services at the hospital level.
  •  Advance and adjust the daily morning reports and schedule meetings with hospital personnel to improve skills.
  •  Creating an atmosphere of intimacy, trust, mutual respect and discipline between personnel.
  • Setting educational programs in cooperation with the training department.
  • Obedience to superiors' orders and related orders in the performance of any type of official duties employed
  • Admitting patients requiring special care followed by investigations and treatment;
  • Examining and talking to patients to diagnose their medical conditions;
  • Making notes and preparing paperwork, both as a legal record of treatment and for the benefit of other healthcare professionals; 
  • Working with other technical management team as part of a team, either in the same department or within other specialties;
  • Giving priorities to those patients with critical condition.
  • Liaising with other medical and non-medical staff in the hospital to ensure quality treatment;
  • Promoting health education;
  • Provide night duties in case of need and as instructed by the hospital technical and management team.
  • Adherence to all organizational policies and procedures as outlined in RIs’ policies and procedure manuals.
  • Conduct him/herself both professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring credit to RI and not to jeopardize its humanitarian mission.

Any other tasks assigned by the line manager.

Job Requirements

  • (specialty  degree in internal medicine particularly in the principal of Infectious diseases)
  • At least 4 years work experience in Hospital as internal specialist.
  • Preferably, with international donor-funded projects, UN agencies or NGO's on relevant programs in Afghanistan.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.

Fluency in Dari and Pashto. Excellent English.
