Job Description

Purpose

ICT Specialist 2 manages and organizes the ICT and Telecom system in Kabul with frequent travel to field offices for ICT support and ICT Project implementation. S/he assists the ICT Manager in designing and installing the ICT infrastructure where required.

Main Responsibilities:

Functional Responsibilities:

• Installs, troubleshoot, repairs, and monitor ICT equipment’s and services in line with ICRC standards and policies
• Local network maintenance and installation including cabling, switches, wireless controller, firewalls, VPNs, VoIP, HF/VHF configuration.
• Provides technical support to the development of the infrastructure systems and services
• Briefs end-users on standard computer systems (hardware, software and telecom)
• provides technical advice and assistance with ICT equipment and its use and provides remote support when needed.
• Manages inventory and stock by monitoring database(s) and carrying out regular physical checks.
• Allocates equipment in an efficient manner, considering users' needs and ICRC policies.
• Keeps track of equipment allocations dispatches equipment and follows up on shipments to and from other ICRC sites.
• Install and troubleshoot VSAT/Satcom, Power backup systems, voice/VoIP services, and radio telecom (HF/VHF)
• Provide necessary support to colleagues in field to maintain a very good level of Telecom Support and Services.
• Maintains radio contact and telecommunications between sites vehicles and people so that the delegation can follow field movement in accordance with its programme and with security rules
• Ethernet and WLAN installation and troubleshooting (incl. AP, Bridged, links and repeaters)
• Monitoring of ISPs WAN for its stability and improvement and handles relations with the internet service provider regarding fees, level of service, etc., in collaboration with the administration.
• Keeps technical documentation up to date for all IT installations and troubleshooting
• Takes part in discussions on new information management practices and is involved in projects and/or contributes to the development of new information management tools.
• Collaborate with ICT Manager to submit the periodical technical plan and Manage technical visits for each structure.
• Any other task assigned by mission leadership and/or supervisor

Skills Required

• Excellent Supervisory, team worker, analytical, and troubleshooting skills
• IT Skills
• Good command of written and spoken English, Pashto and Dari
