Medair is an international humanitarian organization established in 1988. Medair has been operating in Afghanistan since 1996 with programs mainly in the Health, Water & Sanitation, and Livelihoods sectors with significant reconstruction activities in remote areas. Current projects are Water & Sanitation, Food Security, & Disaster Risk Reduction
Medair Afghanistan has been operating since 1996 and currently works in three provinces: Daykundi, Uruzgan, and Kandahar. The country's main office is in Kabul, with multiple field offices. Medair implements WASH, Food Security, Health and Nutrition programming.
Overall Purpose
To lead and supervise a mobile health and nutrition team which provides services to targeted communities according to national IMAM, IYCF-E, IMNCI, MISP, MHPSS, EPI and COVID-19 guidelines and to establish a referral pathway to nearby health facilities for emergency services, and to assist in reporting and data management.
Project Overview
Medair is implementing an integrated IMAM (including IYCF), RH (ANC, PNC & FP), IMNCI, Mental Health and PSS project in Uruzgan Province. Medair’s Health and Nutrition project in Uruzgan Province is designed to lifesaving integrated humanitarian emergency response to conflict, drought and COVID 19-affected populations, through integrated mobile health and nutrition teams (MHNT). The programme addresses some key determinants of health and malnutrition through promotion of improved Maternal Infant and Child Nutrition (MIYCN) practices and linked health and hygiene practices. The project aims to reduce the transmission of COVID-19 and to reduce the impact of COVID-19 on health and nutrition outcomes of women and children.
