About Razi Social Development Organization (RSDO)

  • Introduction to RSDO

Razi Social Development Organization- RSDO is an Afghan NGO founded on April 11, 2008, and registered with the Ministry of Economy in Afghanistan. It was established in Herat city but then set up sub-offices in Ghor and Daykundi provinces by delivering social development services to vulnerable and marginalized people in remote communities.

  • RSDO’s Background

RSDO firstly initiated the primary activities in 2002 under the name of “Abu Hanifeh Orphan High School”, assisting orphan children who lost their parents and families during the long-lasting war in Afghanistan to learn and build their future. Later on, with the financial support of the Japan Embassy, it has constructed a high school building for orphans and expanded the activities of orphans with the support of HELP Germany as well. Throughout years of hard work, RSDO slowly developed and now has functioning offices in all west zone provinces of Afghanistan with more than 200 staff.

  • RSDO’s mandate

RSDO’s mandate is delivering humanitarian assistance to vulnerable households in the west zone provinces of Afghanistan through the financial support of the UN and International Organizations.

RSDO's Mission

RSDO dedicated all efforts to contribute in none violent, developed, and prosperous Afghanistan where both men and women live and respect each other through running services in the sector of women empowerment, education, agriculture, capacity building, and livelihood.

RSDO's Vision:

RSDO’s vision is an Afghanistan without illiteracy. We envision that that all Afghan children (girls and boys have easy access to high-quality education that affect their lives and provide the means of development

Job Description

About this position:

The head of Operations oversees the day-to-day operations of the office, ensuring that it runs efficiently and that all managers (Finance Manager, Admin/HR manager, Procurement Manager and IT/Security Manager of the RSDO have what they need to succeed (such as equipment, supplies, recordkeeping, reporting and a safe and supportive work environment). The Head of Operations also coordinates communication and information flow among and between RSDO’s key stakeholders: board members, executive management, staff, RSDO members, Funders, and others within the general nonprofit sector. This position reports to the Director.

Job Requirements

Overall Strategic Vision and Leadership:

  • Collaborate with the Board to implement the strategic plan while ensuring that the budget, staff, and priorities are aligned with the organization’s core mission
  • Provide inspirational leadership and direction to all staff members, and ensure the continued
    development and management of a professional and efficient organization.
  • Contribute to the organization and management of the board of director on periodical time.

Financial Management and Revenue Generation

  • Oversee the financial status of the organization including developing long and short-range financial plans, monitoring the budget, and setting fundraising goals and financial priorities
  • In collaboration with Director, ensure development and implementation of the fundraising strategic plan, including the stewardship of funders
  • Be the face of the organization and use external presence and relationships to develop and nurture new funders
  • Seek funding through creative avenues. This includes traditional fundraising and donor engagement, contribute to the writing and securing of grants from charitable foundations, pursuing corporate sponsorship, public partnership, social enterprise models, special events, etc.
  • Ensure timely reporting to program funders and other key stakeholders Program Support
  • Spearhead strategic and long-term planning for programmatic growth and impact
  • Oversee the design, implementation, evaluation, and growth of all programs to ensure quality, sustainability, and responsiveness to community and organizational needs. These efforts are directly managed by staff, which the Director supports in fulfilling their responsibilities.
  • Ensure programs are aligned with best practice in global health by upholding monitoring and evaluation frameworks, and effectively utilizing data and outcomes to inform rogram decisions and design.
  • Communicate results the Board, funders, and other constituents

Internal Control Management

  • Present an annual internal audit plan by reference to the risk management framework to the Finance & Audit Committee for their approval.
  • Develop and maintain the Internal Audit Procedures to ensure that best practice is taken account of and that the audits address specific areas of risk management
  • Undertake the approved internal audit plan in line with agreed procedures liaising with the relevant HelpAge or Partner staff.
  • At the conclusion of audit visits to provide a full briefing to the relevant Regional and Country Director or partner organization ensuring that their comments are recorded as part of the review.
  • Agree action plan necessary to implement the audit recommendations with the Regional, Country Directors or the director of relevant department.
  • Present the audit report to the Directors, highlighting any areas of concern and the resultant action plan.
  • Monitor the implementation of any recommendations.
  • Identify common features across audits and organization-wide issues, proposing appropriate systems improvements.
  • Report to the Finance and Audit Committee ensuring that the Trustees are aware of the key findings and the actions being taken to resolve any areas of concern.
  • Report to Age International on the result of internal audit work under the joint agreement

 

Advocacy, Policy and Communications

  • Oversee development of strategic plan for advocacy
  • Represent the organization at international meetings, conferences and events to advance progress on cervical cancer prevention globally
  • Be an external local, national, and international leader by publishing and communicating program results as a model for other regional and international efforts
  • Deepen and refine all aspects of communications with the goal of creating a stronger brand Board Administration and Support
  • Serve as the primary organizational liaison to the Board of Directors by advising and informing Board members and interfacing between the Board and staff
  • Cultivate a strong and transparent working relationship with the Board to ensure open communication about the measurement of financial, programmatic, and impact performance against stated milestones and goals
