The Turquoise Mountain Institute for Afghan Arts and Architecture (TMI) is an independent, non-governmental, not-for-profit vocational training institute established in 2006, providing high-quality training across four schools: calligraphy & miniature painting, woodworking, ceramics, and jewellery and gem cutting. The Institute is registered with the Afghan Technical and Vocational Education and Training Independent Authority- TVET-A and is also accredited with City & Guilds, a UK-based vocational training body. The Institute is funded by the Trust but is overseen by its own Board of Directors.

Job Summary

diagnose and treat conditions related to the reproductive system, such as performing screening exams, offering birth control counseling, and preventing infections. 

Duties & Responsibilities

• Collect, record, and maintain patient information, such as medical histories, reports, and examination results.
• Conduct proper physical examinations of patients including pelvic and breast examinations
• Perform routine office-based obstetric and gynecological procedures including endometrial biopsies, IUDs, etc.
• Establish and follow standards of care for common women’s health-related issues and illnesses, especially antenatal and postnatal care, and provide family planning
• Educate patients, Community Health Workers (CHWs) and deliver health education sessions for women as and when needed
• Monitor and ensure compliance with clinical evidence-based guidelines while treating patients all the time
• Determine and implement appropriate types and courses of treatment
• Perform standard ultrasound examinations and produce related reports 
•  Perform and interpret various diagnostic tests including pap smears, hormone profiles, STD tests
• Educate patients about disease prevention, detection (malignancies of reproductive organs), and reproductive health
•  Be able to work as a primary care doctor (general physician) as and when needed /dealing with a wide range of patients
• Have the ability to develop positive rapport with patients and families to foster the physician/patient relationship
• Eager to actively participate in continuing medical education program inside the clinic / delivers case presentations and raise medical discussions.
• Attend weekly staff and other internal and external meetings and contribute to clinic annual planning and reporting
• Take care of equipment assigned to in the clinic including laptop, desk, chair, statoscope ultrasound machines and ensure their proper usage
• Respect all rules and regulations of the Ferozkoh Family Health Clinic (FFHC).
• Make all necessary efforts to stay updated with the emerging medical/Obstetric knowledge and skills
