Job Description

Provision of integrated emergency primary health care, nutrition, protection, and WASH services for conflict and disaster-affected people in the Eastern and Northern regions of Afghanistan’ is the new project funded by BHA. The project will be implemented in 4 provinces (Laghman, Kunar, Balkh, and Nangarhar).

Job Purpose

The Guard/Cleaner works in the field/Health Facility/office to take care of staff and provides cleaning and security support. In addition, he/she is responsible for taking care of the vehicle/equipment while the team is providing services.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensure the well-being of personnel and maintain the necessary equipment for IMC operation.
  • Assist personnel in allocating aid and patient compliance.
  • Prevent visitors from entering the Work area with weapons.
  • Reports immediately to the Outreach Team director for suspicious packages, bags, and envelopes.
  • Ensure that the guard/cleaner is clean, well-dressed, and polite with the visitors.
  • Equipment loading and unloading in the SDP.
  • Respect working hours.
  • The guard/cleaner should be able to travel in and around the districts/ province with the Outreach Health Team to provide support to the team and beneficiaries.
  • Facilitates the performance of activities within the SDP and calms the place.
  • Adjust the clients according to the Outreach Team doctor's work plan.
  • Direct every client to the right department.
  • Proper management of waste disposal.
  • Makes Service Delivery Point clean and non-infectious.
  • Ensure document/item security and confidentiality.
  • Verify that soap and hand water are in the hand washing station.
  • Make sure that he arrives on time for work and doesn’t leave without the Outreach Team director's permission.
  • Patrol the perimeter of the compound regularly.
  • Control all movement in and out (access control) within.
  • Any strange activity in the field or potential safety hazards that could jeopardize the team must be reported to the immediate supervisor.
  • Visually identify the type of surface, type, and degree of contamination.
  • Use different types of tools and equipment for cleaning and disinfecting.
  • Replace plastic waste bags efficiently and safely.
  • Washing dishes and kitchen-relevant materials.
  • Any additional tasks assigned by the supervisor.
  • Things to avoid: No CD or video playing during the official time.
  • No loud or rude noise in the area.
  • Ability to cope with stressful situations and work with limited resources.

  • Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards within International Medical Corps and amongst beneficiaries served by International Medical Corps.

  • Promotes and encourages a culture of compliance and ethics throughout the International Medical Corps. As applicable to the position, maintains a clear understanding of International Medical Corps and donor compliance and ethics standards and adheres to those standards.  Conducts work with the highest level of integrity.

Job Requirements

Essential

  • Male
  • Afghan National
  • Graduated from nine Class.

Experience

  • At least one year of experience working with government or NGO.
  • Communication (Oral and written) in Pashto.
  • Experience of the relevant field will be an asset.
  • Have the ability of cook.
  • Have the ability to speak the local language.
  • Have the ability to read and write.

Competency

  3. To have the ability to solve small local problems.
  4. He can maintain good relations with the local people.
  5. According to the request of the office, he can work on any part of the project.
  6. The people who live in the province of Nangarhar will get priority.
